If you were a salesman and your boss told you "If you don't get 7 sales today, you are fired!" would that be fair? Not really. You don't fire someone for losing one game. You fire them because over a period of time, they have shown an inability to get accomplished what needs to be accomplished. If you are supposed to get 7 sales per day and for the past 6 months, you have not met that quota once, or have met it very few times, then your firing is justified. Yes, Jauron has been less then adequate as a coach, but the argument for him to be fired is his body of work as a coach, not stating after every game, that if he loses he should be fired. fact is, fear of losing one's job is a great motivator - and jauron should have been fired long ago, anyway. at some point, you have to draw a line in the sand. i say today, if we lose our 8th consecutive divisional game - against Miami, that jauron has crossed that line. So what is the upside to firing Jauron now, paying off his contract, and maybe having to pay more to one of the existing assistants to take over the job? The answer, none. Most of you are looking at it from strictly a football point of view, which in my opinion is incorrect. IF DJ gets fired, it won't be until after the season (or at the very least at the tail end of this season). That way they can bring in someone who offers a ray of hope to the fans and gets them to buy the season tickets again. Similar to what they did with TO this past off season. In a TV-revenue league, that's virtually no effect on the team's bottom line, no matter who coaches the team. In other words, there isn't much of a financial incentive for on-the-field success in the NFL. If management isn't looking at it from a football point of view, there's no hope. Agreed! Jauron should not even be the Bills coach right now for this discussion to be brought up (again!). His contract extension NEVER should have been given early last season, and he should have been fired during the season, with the Bills free-fall of losses in the second half of the year. But 1) I believe there is little hope of this team making the playoffs this season with or without a new head coach. Particularly if we lose to the fish today. 2) That might help some, but I think the best time to give the season ticket holders hope for the future is when they have the season ticket renewal forms in their hands and catch them in a moment of weakness, like what happened with TO. I think a head coach switch is worth more than 3000 season ticket sales at this moment in time with all the DJ lovin going on in Bills land. And if we finish this season 7-9 or worse, even more so. I was afraid of this happening. When a head coach doesn't have your back after three quarters of blood sweat and tears, don't count on them having yours going forward. You make a valid point, but in the NFL you cannot fire the team so you bring in a new HC to see if they can get better results. I think the Singletary's mid-season hiring was good for the 49ers from a business point of view. It brought accountability to the players who responded with wins, which generated off-season excitement. Find the right guy, like the 9ers did, and the team begins to improve immediately, which generates excitement for renewals for next year.
