joe w bags Posted April 16, 2009 Share Posted April 16, 2009 Just asking: If the commissioner were to ask you to speak up to save team in Buffalo, in light of area not having corporate $, and fans paying lowest ticket prices in the entire NFL , why should Buffalo have a team. What is in it for the rest of the league. What would you tell him in defense of the area and city to justify having a team . Secondarily if a new ownership group purchased team and told you they would need raise ticket 35% that would help them recoup purchase expenses and build new stadium ect. would you be on board. Average ticket prices for Bills games were last in league at 51.24 on average last season, suppose they raised this average to $70.00. kota Posted April 16, 2009 Share Posted April 16, 2009 It's a simple answer really. The NFL is about the fans right? Well the Bills have one of the largest stadiums in the NFL. The Bills sell out most of their games regardless of record. Plus the economy of Buffalo isn't exactly great. The housing market alone isn't very good. YOu can buy homes for 10k or less. Even with the Economy the fans are willing to spend the money to attend football games. If you compare the Bills stadium and sellout stats they are way above alot of other clubs. Jacksonville throws up large advertisement tarps to block seats so they can sellout. The Arizona Cardinals had issues selling out the NFC championship game. Both of these things haven't happened in buffalo or wouldn't happen. If the NFL is truely about the fans then Buffalo deserves to have a team. I would have no problem paying double what I currently pay for a season ticket. I would also say the fans here are fans through and through. We sell out even after a decade of shite. when/if things are going good, profits will increase much more. There is room in the NFL for expansion. Not relocation. It's history of 50 years reminds of us the early beginnings of our sport. #2. Buffalo has some of the most loyal fans in the world. Games are constantly sold out. #3. Without players on the Bills such as Marshawn Lynch, Donte Whitner, Ko Simpson, etc., you have increased job security overseeing/babysitting players in the league. Buffalo plays a large part in that job security! Keep the Bills in Buffalo with a bailout. I'm sure you can ask for government help. Every other company is! If this Commissioner, and all the owners, are willing to rebate every dime the taxpayers forked over for RWS (including time value of the gift), they can pull the team. But that would never happen. Buffalo is an origanal founding member of the AFL. Buffalo is a football town. They have the most loyal fan bases, something for other teams to envy. The NFL should have learned its lesson when they allowed the Browns to move to Baltimore. Furthermore, who cares if Buffalo ahs the lowest ticket prices and corperate sponsorships? One of the 32 franchises are going to be last in that category by default. So what, you justify moving the Bills for low ticket prices? What about the team that takes their place at the bottom? Do you move them a few years later? Buffalo has NEVER had a real problem with attendence OR making a profit for its owner. They will not be moved. But adding 35% to current prices would put Bills average at $70 which would be based on 2008 prices even with San Francisco at 14 th in league or in middle. The 28th team Seattle averaged at $61.25 We are not last by "$20-$30". Not even close.
