Schobel $8.7 million, time to cut him loose and move on.

Sign Peters now, if we can afford him and he's willing to take just a little more than the other Oline men.

Who else can we cut to get more room to make a few moves?

Kelsay, Denney, and Roscoe gotta go...

Roscoe makes too much money and he isnt even the best kick returner on the team any more.

You have heard of cap hits right? I'm sure we'd take a mighty one with Kelsay and Schobel combined. One of them stays, no reason to cut Schobel when you are not going to get two top notch DE's in one offseason.

Exactly...could also try and renegotiate with Schobel...probably says no, but worth a shot.

I agree w/cutting Schobel due to the injury (injury/waiver type situation)...Cut TE Royal, S Ko Simpson (after today - it must happen)....

As far as Peters, I'd gauge interest in him as far as what we could get, etc...But ultimately one has to decide is this the guy you want playing LT - if so, I cut G Dockery...

Dockery is also likely uncuttable so early in his contract...and what's the obsession with getting rid of Schobel? He's obviously much better than Kelsay and he would likely be rather productive with a top notch pass rusher opposite him.

Word is that he may never be the same player...anotherwords - DONE!!!

Can't cut Schobel yet. Let's not assume the worst with him, we haven't heard if he needs surgery or not.

Melvin Fowler's contract may be up but if it isn't, that would save us $3.3 million.

JP Losman's contract is over which will save us $3 million. I don't think his replacement will cost that much.

Robert Royal makes $2.3 million. Time for him to go.

Chris Kelsay makes $5 million. BYE Mr. Kelsay. We could bring in a good replacement for that kind of money.

And you can't cut everyone, so I'll leave it at that. That clears up $13 million. You could do something daring like trade Roscoe Parrish but you'd have to bring in another receiver to replace him. The team has so much to do this off-season, so by doing that they'd be creating another problem.

I may be wrong, but that is the beauty of cash to cap. We can cut these boys anytime and not really worry bout the hits putting us over the cap. No matter who we cut, we still have the same amount of money to spend as we will not be over the cap

Ok...

Kelsay

Royal

Roscoe

Fowler

Preston

Ko Simpson

JP Losman

Greer will be too expensive to resign (even though it would be nice to have him back)

McCargo

Possibly Peters if we can get lots of draft choices.

Give Schobel one more year to see if he can get it going

Give contract extension now to Youbouty and Fred Jackson before they get expensive.

.

Pick up Birk through FA and draft Mack to lock up our centers.

Pick Up Suggs!!! Suggs I say!!!

Resign Crowell to a 2 year deal and reevaluate that position again next year.

and Draft a high quality TE, either Gresham or Coffey

What do you base your analysis on? Have you factored in the cap impact? Have you looked at the fact that across the league any team is lucky to get 2 or maybe 3 "name" free agent signings each off season?

What do you base Peter's contract demands on? Do you think his agent is stupid enough to accept less than top flight LT pay (BTW they generally make a lot more than other o-line members)?

Why don't we just cut the entire roster and start over.

However, to get to the point of your post... Fowler, Royal and Greer (due to likely hood of signing big contract are most likely to go in my opinion. Based on play Kelsey should be gone but I believe he is way to tight with the coaching staff and they will retain him by making excuses for his terrible play.

Time will tell what form Schobel returns in. even if he takes a step back his prce tag compared to other DE's is not entirely unacceptable. He is likely to be converted to a 3rd down specialist at some point in his career. Perhaps the injury causes this to happen sooner rather than later.

Other possible cuts - not listed in any particular order (in no way related to cap and in every way related to performance / contribution) include:

McCargo - way too much money for a guy that was not even active on many Sundays - a true draft bust

Preston - if a FA acquisition is made

Yoboughty - depends on who is available in FA - and if Greer is re-signed (Yoboughty is too injury prone - he showed flashes of very good play... but... the dude has a dark cloud hanging over his head .. bad karma .. he's played in what .. about 8 games?)

Parrish - yes a suprise here but may be a numbers game - he is not an NFL WR and may be taking up a valued roster spot as a return specialist only (punts at that bc the guy proved to be worthless on kickoff returns). My hope is that someone is stupid enough to trade for him based on his return abilities.

Corto - hometown favorite but role player at best. Appreciate his heart and hard play on ST's but you can only hang on to one or two of these types

Wendling - see above (minus hometown favorite)

Ellison - would not be a starter anywhere else in the league. Not sure that he has proven his worth as a back-up

DiGeorgio - see above - also depends on how he recuperates from injury

the Bills already have plenty of room to make moves, the fact is they choose not to

Dockery, Schobel, and Kelsay would all have very significant dead money cap hits.

I'm not sure about the others, but they don't really make enough to have a significant impact in saving money in the first place.

I haven't seen updated cap numbers in a while, but the Bills are so far under the cap that they could probably cut whomever they want and still be under the cap. Ralph only seems to care about the yearly cash outlay at this point and dead money is simply an accounting charge whereas cutting them means real cash savings. It is amazing that Ralph won't cough up $5m or so to buyout Jauron, but is alright with ridiculous player contracts like Dockery and Kelsay. He truly runs a horrible organization. Cutting Dockery and Kelsay alone would pay for selling a home game to Toronto and bringing in a quality coach.
