My Bills Offseason Plan

Obviously there are a million details and responsibilities other than consistently having your team finish 7-9 every season that are the responsibilities of front office staff, GM, scouts, and coaches, but I wish forum members really had the listening ear of of forum members. Again, I realize my "wish" list can't account for salary cap dollars, every team's schemes, or the fact that there are 31 other teams vying their team's improvement too. With that in mind...

My "wish" offseason.

1. Bills trade Jason Peters to Detroit for their 2nd and 3rd round pick.

2. Buffalo signs OT Jordan Gross. He's a Pro Bowl type player and is still only 28-29.

3. Buffalo signs Shaun McDonald, WR of Detroit. We won't get T.J. from Cincy, but McDonald and Reed would make a nice #2 and #3 receiver until Hardy or Johnson become starters or busts. He will be cheap and would be happy to be a #2 option in Buffalo after a 0-16 season.

4. Buffalo signs Karlos Dansby, LB for the Cardinals. Yes, he plays for a poor defense which increases his tackle numbers, but he has averaged 4-5 sacks the past 5 years or so and has had a few interceptions to go along with those tackles. He's a solid linebacker that isn't high profile. He's about 26-27 and would fit well replacing Crowell and keeping Bowen, Ellison and Constanzo as Buffalo's backups.

5. Buffalo makes an offer to Terrell Suggs. Just make an offer! The fans would be excited that the Front Office even tried. He'll sign somewhere else, and we won't get Haynesworth or Peppers, but at least it looks good.

6. Sign Jeff Garcia. I know he's old, but he's a crafty veteran who is a true professional. He's bounced around from team-to-team, but he's been an above average starter in this league for most of his career. He would be a good backup with veteran presence/leadership.

7. Lock up Fred Jackson to a contract now! Forget the whole FB thing. It is the biggest waste of roster spot. Don't draft one. Don't pick up one in free agency. Don't pickup one at waivers. Don't sign an undrafted free agent FB. If you get a FB, then pay top dollar for a top 5 veteran, but don't do that any way!

With the holes now filled at a #2 quarterback, linebacker, WR, and OT, the Bills can focus their draft on the following:

1st Round- Everette Brown (DE Pass Rush Specialist)

2nd Round Detroit & 3rd Round Detroit (trade up) get Jermaine Gresham.

2nd Round Buffalo-(OC-Alex Mack)

3rd Round (BEST DE or DT available)

4th Round (SS or CB to fill in if Jabari Greer leaves or Bryan Scott)

5th Round (Quarterback...Gibran Hamdan is probably a nice guy, but take a gamble and get your backup to replace Jeff Garcia after a year in the system learning from Edwards and Garcia.)

6th Round (Best OG Available)

7th Round (Special Teams Guy...Bills always look for these guys. And it is never a waste in the 7th round)

Wow. Posts like that make me happy that Russ Brandon is "running the show".

Are you serious? Dump your best player for a 2nd and 3rd, and sign Jeff Garcia? Please tell me this was a joke!

I like the trade with Detroit except I want the 1st and 3rd they got from Dallas and their own 2nd.

Can I ask why everyone wants to trade a franchise LT? Look I know I have called the guy out here and there, but lets get real folks, if you trade Peters, it dont mean we can find a replacement that day via draft.....give Peters what he deserves. If you want to go and draft OL, do it later rounds, try to snag a solid RT, put him at that spot, move Walker to RG and Butler to center!

I think Peters, Dockery, Butler, Walker, and stud RT would really help the offense......Dont forget Kirk Chambers. He could make a nice RG

Peter, Dockery, Butler, Walker, Chambers.....decent line up

Moving Peters would not be that bad, but we need a 1st and 3rd for him...maybe Jacksonville, Cincy, or Washington would take him. The problem is the hole at LT.

For me FA's would be Vilma at MLB move POZ to OLB and the safety from KC is a good young safety. We need D-line but there are only big $$ guys that won't sign here. The draft is our best hope this year.

I would love to trade for Winslow or Gonzalez, but not likely.

I'd trade Peters in a HEARTBEAT! Youll agree next year when he holds out AGAIN!

You can only trade Peters if you think you have a player who can at least hold their own at LT- If you thought Bell was going to be a stud or you knew you could get that player in FA- and you also have to get reasonable value for Peters which I personally rate a 2200 points on the draft trade value chart the equivalent of a third overall pick- he's a two time probowl player at a premium position, still young with upside, no learning curve needed, and should give you at least 5 seasons of prime time playing- I take some points away because he's been injured two years in a row at the end of the year.

You do realize that no matter who is drafted or acquired, they will be playing for Dick Jauron?

Why are you wasting your time?

Well, there is that fantasy of 'what if' as in 'what if the Bills had a real HC'.

I am not going to knock your plan but when it comes to Peters I dont agree with it.

Your incoming players are good and would def help.....but anything less then a 1st for Jason Peters (and at least a mid rounder at that) is giving him away for less then he is worth.

Myself I would just sign the guy......get him into camp on time and maybe he plays much better next season. There is going to be a good center when we pick in the 2nd and it might even be Alex Mack.

My own offseason plan......resign Crowell but make sure you bring in a vet LB just in case. Resign Peters. Draft a pass rusher in round 1 in round one, a center in round 2, either a LB or OL in round 3.

It is going to be interesting to see what this $ucked up front office is going to do in free agency....if they dont hit it hard and bring in players that are going to help they are going to lose the fan base.

 A ray of intelligence in a sea of stupidity.

We will draft some DB out of some program again for abouth the millionsth time with pick #11. In the second rounf we will take anotheR RB and say he was too good to pas on. In the 3rd round we will drfat another QB and talk of value. In Round 4 we will draft a big , slow blocking TE. In round 5 we will draft another CB tellinf of the loss of Greer and we need depth. Inround 6 and 7 we will drfat for need with that beiing a Center and a DE. It's like I have a crystal ball.....
