half empty Jags stadium?

Attendance was 65,167 according to the ESPN site.

That would be the HIGHEST of any of Buffalo's four trips to JAX, then -- they sold in the 58s for the first two. Their last trip up here in 2006 was blacked out when we "only" sold 63,608 tickets, and the attendance at the one before that (the '04 home opener) was 72,389.

It definitely looked like there were a lot of empty seats in the lower bowl....I didn't notice until the second half, but I presumed it was because of the weather. If that's the case, it's a pretty sad statement.

One thing to note about the Jax Stadium setup -- almost all of their sideline seating, comparable to our 100 level, is actually club seating. If those indoor clubs were available in the lower bowl here, I suspect our stands might not be quite as full, either.

I think a huge issue that you will notice at many professional sports games, is the people that buy the best seats up at the stadium and try to make a huge profit on them. If you noticed, a HUGE chunk of lower level 50 yard line seats were empty at the game on Sunday. While I think the heat was one of the problems, I think the biggest problem was online scalpers.

Actually the 2004 home opener attendance was 72,390. Get yer facts straight if you are going to report them.

From the pictures that I took yesterday...

Right after the opening kickoff:

~12 minutes to go in the 3rd:

~4-5 minutes left in the game (this picture was intended to show a large group of Bills fans who were VERY loud at the end of the game):

All in all, pretty weak crowd.

You can see the tarped off sections in the following pictures:

I was there yesterday in the lower level and it was HOT .There was a few Bills fans around me but everyone had a sweat streak on their Butts.I had to leave with 2 minutes left in the game but watched it on the way out. Great Game only one thing did you know Jacksonville had 4 timeouts in the first half?

Didn't realize that. You're on top of things as usual, Lori...

I noticed it last spring when I was comparing the Bills' 2008 ticket prices with other stadiums around the league. See if I can find it in one of the 17 notebooks scattered across my desk right now, as I take a break from a high school football gamer. (I hope the team I'm writing about wins a game soon ... for my sake as well as their own ...)

Ah, here it is: according to my notes, the lower-level sidelines in Jax (roughly between the 20s) are 100 percent club seats. Depending on where they draw the line on the visitors' side, my seats -- $70/ticket this year -- would cost either $210 or $165.50 there with a three-year deal, more without it.

Their upper deck prices are fairly cheap, though. That's why they're near the Bills at the bottom of the average-price lists (which don't include the premium seats, remember).
