Ok, I'm going on record now and putting this out there.

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking that in our home game this year we are going to throttle the Patriots. We have the nucleus to do so. This of course is barring any major injury to our key players.

We have a veteran DL sprinkled with fresh, young players who are ready to break out, a secondary who will greatly benefit from them and hunry LBs who play from snap to whistle. Between Stroud, Whitner and Poz/Crowell/Mitchell we will have great leadership in all areas of defense. We have our Vince Woolfork type player only he has speed in DE Chris Ellis.

Our OL is huge and will dominate most opposing DLs. The Patriots do have a great one but we have a PLETHORA of weapons on offense. A big key for us is keeping Edwards healthy but in the event that if he does go down I believe that not only will Losman will be ready but he'll also be able to do an admirable job as a back up. Our RBs have a very important year of playing time under their belts and our WRs all have a role that they will be able to fulfill. Evans will have a monster year, especially when Edwards is able to hit him in stride on intermediate passes, Hardy will be alot more than just a red zone threat and Parrish/Reed will be a dangerous in the slot for us. I can't wait to see when we use our four WR sets! I also expect our TEs to be the surprise position for us on offense.

We are loaded with explosive return men on STs and one of the league's best punter who will provide our defense with great field position. I don't ever recall too much talk about Lindell but I think that he'll be more lights out than ever before.

What a fabulous way to end our regular season before we get ready for our first post season in the last several years. As much as we loathe the Patriots and the way that they have slapped us around in numerous games, don't think that the core of our players who have had to endure it has forgotten that either.

We have young players who have grown up and we added valuable veterans who will be bringing a much needed attitude with them. The Patriots aren't going to be so well aware of our defensive signals like in years past and we are also changing up on things that we have done in the past. Our secondary for instance is going to be much more interchangable than ever before, our LBs are bigger and stronger and I truly believe that we are going to have a pretty nasty DL.

We won't be able to shut down Brady & Co completely but when we are able to to attack their suspect secondary and put plenty of points on the board then this will most definitely make their offense much more one dimensional and we'll have the players who will be able to take advantage of this.

Christmas is coming three days late this year boys but it'll be worth it.

Hey, it has to happen sometime. Of course it would be doubly sweet to beat them at their own game, with Trent picking them apart, clicking with 5 or 6 different receivers all over the field. A McKelvin pick and return for a TD, as Brady struggles in garbage time, sure wouldn't suck either.

Only question is...do we run the score up on them or show some mercy?

Considering the 2nd game is the final game of the season and the Patri*ts likely won't be looking to go undefeated, that should be a win for the Bills. Whether it's a blowout remains to be seen.

In this case talk & predictions are cheap fellas. This team has handed us our lunch for this whole decade, winning 14 out of the last 15 games against us. That kind of streak is unheard of or should be unheard of in today's NFL. Until I see it happen, Im keeping my mouth shut.

just like how the colts have been built, or greenbay before them, or dallas before them, we are built as a team with the specific purpose of knocking off the big dawgs on the block. that's the faketriots obviously.

pass D, pass blocking, power back, ball control, kick ass special teams.

if we can take away the big play, and then throw some blitzes and confusion at brady we can make new england go from best o ever to average. if we can hold the ball we can wear out the old d. with marshawn we can get to the red zone and punch them in the effing mouth. with our special teams we can play on their side of the field and possibly break one.

i've got my chest kicking shoes ready, THIS IS THE YEAR WE DO IT!111

I hope when we blow them out the last game of the year it is our 10th or 11th win of the season, not our 7th. B/c then i could give two sh!ts about blowing Brady out.

And...there's the set.....

New England? Best ever?

Don't think so. You don't get to proclaim a team as "best ever" after they've been penalized for a seven-year cheating spree.

Best ever cheaters? I'll give you that.

2 things I would like to see vs. the Patriots** this year, 1 of which is just plain fantasy (but that seems to be where this thread started):

1. Win a close one. I think the psychological impact of gutting out a close win vs. the Cheaters** would be huge for this team (and its fans).

2. Beat the crap out of them* every which way for 60 minutes. (65 actually: I want a scuffle to erupt during warmups when somebody calls Brady* a cheater to his face.) Just a full on beating, with several plays where Lynch plays the role of Thurman running over Brian Cox. Where Peters gets out in front and escorts Pats* LBs to the nursing home. Where DL are all converging on Brady* for several (clean) bonecrunching hits. And where 'bonecrunching' isn't just figurative language. Where Whitner does to Moss* what he did to that WR for the Bengals.

(This is turning into a nice little dream here.)

The best part of my fantasy is that late in the game, with the Bills up by a lot, the Bills move the ball into the red zone behind several strong runs--the kind where everyone knows it's going to be a handoff to Lynch, but no one can do anything about it. But they come up short on 3rd, bringing up 4th and a few yards. When the FG unit is sent out, the Bills fans begin to boo loudly and start a chant of 'go for it.' In the postgame conference, DJ is asked whether he heard the chants, and whether he considered going for it. His response: "I have too much respect for the game, and too much respect for the opposing players to do something like that."

Win. Win big. Win the Bills way.

Of course, throughout the game, the chants of 'cheaters' never let up.

OK, dream over.

But I do think #1 would be huge for this team.

We don't 'blow' anybody out. It will be the second time NE will see the new Bills and they're track record (tainted?) in the second game is phenomenal (G-men notwithstanding). Until the Bills can prove it on the field, count 2 loses to the Pats*. We may need the win more for a possible playoff game, but then there's that season finale vs. Steeler scrubs..

Since I picked the Bills to lose both of these games, I'll explain my thinking. I believe Buffalo will FINALLY get off to a fast start this season, which will unfortunately put them in the position of being "hot" going into the first NE* game. Reality check for a young team -- NE* victory.

Then, the Bills will recover and have a playoff spot locked up by the final game of the regular season. NE* will be 14-1 so the Bills won't be able to catch them for the division, and the Pats* will win an ugly game featuring a myriad of backups.

In the playoffs, however, all bets are off.

Ok, I'm going on record now and putting this out there., The Bills will destroy NE in 1 of our 2 games this year.

Tipster, I have to disagree...

We will throttle them* in both regular season games - and in the playoffs, should they* be lucky enough to make it!

19 and 0 baby!!!

I'll start off by saying that the Patriots have more questions about their team than we do. Their secondary has been decimated, the LBs are ancient, their OL was exposed in the Super Bowl and looked to be wearing down and now they will be monitored more closely now so they shouldn't be having their extra advantage this year when they play opposing teams.

Us on the other hand have an OL that was jelling more as the season wore on until Peters was hurt, our young players like Edwards and Lynch have some experience now and Lee Evans won't be smothered like he was in the past. I haven't even addressed our defense yet but just having a load of players returning from injury and adding some key veterans will make a huge difference in what we'll be able to accomplish against other teams' offenses.

I haven't forgotten the 15-1 streak against us but do you really think that we can never overcome them? Look at what is happening and not dwell in the past. Teams do improve and others decline. It's our time against them and I'm confident that we split the series with them and even beat them soundly in the season finale. We'll be hungry and they'll be content. Our time is now and payback is a B word.

This has been my little secret thought(who am I kidding, wish) for the last couple of weeks. Every so often I keep thinking that we have a decent chance to put up 56 on them on our field this year, just like they did to us last year. It's not about wanting them to, I just keep thinking they have chance to. I have no idea why. It defies all logic, and even seems ridiculous from an emotional perspective, but it has been popping up here and there in my mind fairly consistently. I'm just glad there are others who see this, so I know that at least I will have company in the loony bin. I have no idea where this thought came from, and I certainly haven't gone to the trouble of formally analyzing it like Tipster, but it has been there for the last two weeks.

I suppose I wouldn't mind if it was against their backups, but somehow I see the game being meaningful for both teams. No how many times I tell myself to cut it out, I keep hearing/seeing Ian Eagle(or some other 2nd team announcer) talking about how "ironic" the whole blowout thing is during the game. OTOH, perhaps I need a vacation....or perhaps this is just wishful thinking taking over my sensibility.
