I know the scores bundles of goals at even strength but for the play off run I hope they acquire a person who specializes on the power play. Every little bit helps at that time of year. So I'd throw this question out. Would you be willing to mortgage some of the future for a better chance at cup this year? Really open ended question, I know. You can't get something for nothing. I really don't know who is out there, but a someone at the point to quarterback the PP would be nice. Carolina seemed set but at deadline added two players that made a huge difference for them. Tiimmmmmaaaay is biking and swimming, which is a step in the right direction. He wasn't doing any exercising as of a few weeks ago. He's even cleared to skate if he wants- anything to get his heart rate up. The trouble is, he's still experiencing headaches and other symptoms of post-concussion syndrome, and there is no timetable for return on the horizon. It would be such a huge lift to get him back a few weeks before the playoffs. Bye bye power play problems. A healthy Connolly this year might also help sort out the Drury/Briere re-signings this offseason. If the team knows Connolly is back, it might be easier to let one of those guys walk. I think this team already has the talent to win the Cup - this year as well as for many years thereafter. The only thing standing in our way are injuries or just plain bad luck on the ice...and I can't imagine any kind of trade that can provide the type of virtual Cup guarantee I'd expect in exchange for having to lose players of a Vanek or Max or Miller caliber. Also, I think team chemistry is way more important in team sports than is given credit. A pro roster is more than just a sum of interchangeable parts...ask the Redskins or Rangers about this. Bottom line: the Sabres have championship-level chemistry...we've seen it in so many of their close wins and OT wins this season and last. Unless we're talking about trading a Stafford or a Lydman, I say stick with what we've already got...and hope Connolly returns for the playoffs . That can be stifled in the playoffs. They don't have much of a forecheck imo. They have a very good team though and are a good bet to win the Cup if Miller shines. However, Sabre pressure in the offensive zone leads to a LOT of turnovers for the Sabres - especially for the Briere line and whatever line Roy is playing on. Not a single guy brought in could make this team any better. they're loaded from top to bottom. Getting tallinder back will be huge for the PP... if connolly comes back, he'll be big in the playoffs on the PP... allowing numminen time to rest is beneficial to the entire team too. The original question should be answered with nobody. Don't bring in anyone. If there's a team built to win the stanley cup, its the buffalo sabres. Team speed, depth, great defense top to bottom, 2 starter goalies, best coach in the league, outstanding leadership, seasoned rookies. You can't ask for anything more! If he parked himself in front of the net for 4-5 PPs a night during the playoffs, I think he'd bring a new dimension to this team. He's won a cup, is a high character guy that would know his role, and could be just the "wild card" this team needs to compete with the Ducks in May.
