I wish I could be there, but since you brought it up...if I get one more "save the date" refrigerator magnet with some photo of a couple getting married in 2008, I'm going to start killing people.

Oh god do I see this turning bad.

Having members of this board getting to meet Marv and Jauron, I would love to be there when security is escorting some fans out as the flip on Marv for not bringing in Hutch or Bentley, and how he is not signing all the top name guys, or going after RFA's.

I may try to make that one.  I just wish they'd have the meetings on a different day so I wouldn't have to take so much time off work to go to one.

Gee, last year you and me got our picture taken with the former Bills GM.

Wanna try again with Marv!

Believe it or not, when meeting coaches/GMs in person (as opposed to typing rants about them from the safety of home), most fans actually DON'T behave like friggin' idiots.

I was concerned about that at the meet-and-greet in San Antonio, considering Donahoe's Q-and-A session was after two hours of drink specials in the hotel bar. Shouldn't have worried -- the crowd was polite, and seemed happy to have a chance to ask legit questions, pose for pix with him, etc.

(Some, of course, were 'happier' than others... **hic** )

Ha-ha! This is so true. Somehow the ranting experts become Casper Milquetoast when they meet the REAL person. I am glad of that too, because the coaches and players would NOT waste their time on "friggin' idiots"!

That would be cool... but I'm not sure Berchtold would suggest it. Unlike TD, he seemed very uncomfortable that evening, didn't he?

At any rate, I'd advise doing any future meet-the-fans events before Happy Hour...

I'm not afraid, I've always said what's on my mind when meeting GM's/Coaches/Players. Usually it's "Hi, I'm Jack, nice to meet you."

Yeah, they usually hide behind their keyboards to flex their internet muscles, and then when they meet the person they have been ranting about they go to mush, talking about how great they are to their face.

Marv is going to be getting hammered. He'll be throwing down Jager-bombs and bonging beers all night. Then he'll get emotional and tell everyone about how he loves them like children. Then he will order some late night food and pass out before eating it. Everyone will be shocked that he made it till 7:45. :P
