Don't worry. The NHL will find that gretzky had nothing to do with it. Wayne will divorce that crook janet jones, and all will be forgotten. Nevermind the FBI evidence or the eventual criminal conviction. The Great One's number shall never be worn again by a Buffalo Sabre!

Did you see last nights press conference? Gretzky denied any knowledge of the betting ring or his wifes participation in betting. He said they talked last night but not about her possible involvement. WTF, he expects us to believe in the tooth ferry?

His wife drops $500K in bets and he doesn't know about it? His wife is implicated in the biggest scandel in hockey and when they talk on the phone right after the story breaks he never discuss her involvement in the scandel with her?? Yeah right Wayne.

He had the look of man with liftetimes worth of credibility about to be flushed down the toilet. This is terrible, terrible news for hockey.

Personally I could give a crap if she bet $5,000,000 with a bookie. It has absolutley zero effect on my day to day life. Besides that's equivalent of me dumping $50 at a casino or on a Superbowl Pool.

The government is falling all over themselves to get to the bottom of this yet they allow casinos to open about as often as a Wal-Mart store. Wal-Mart has a harder time opening a store that might actually save some people a few bucks, than a casino who is taking money from a lot of people who should be using their paychecks for family matters.

I'm not against casino's mind you, but sometimes I think the issues the goverment focuses on are messed up. If they could make it legal, and get a cut from the mob or who is ever running the books, they would do it in a heartbeat.

The Gretzky issue is a non story, unless he was betting on his own team and coached the game according to if he had picked his team to win or lose.

Just kidding about the second part, but am seriously amazed that some people have that kind of cash to burn.  Janet Jones must be a wild one!

As far as I am concerned, karma is a B word.

Still think that was a "good goal," Wayne?

That's what I was thinking.

Dante - about a week after "No Goal", at the NHL awards ceremony in '99, there was still a lot of buzz about Hull's "skate in the crease". #99, before presenting an award, said something to the effect of "I thought it was a good goal."

Of course, all the information that we are hearing regarding the individuals and dollars involved is all based on rumor.

If the dollar amounts were true, Mrs. #99 would have been responsible for 33% of the total cash flow of the ring. This sounds fictional.

Good point. Tocchet and Gretsky are friends also, I wouldn't want to place a 75K bet on the superbowl if I knew my friend would have to pay it out.

the mob boss was sitting in Eric Lindros's seats at a Philly game. That is when the whole investigation starting according to Dan Patrick. Another friend of mine said that it was being run in Philadelphia.
