I think one can assume his parents paid for some, if not all of them. seems to me, they were very devoted parents. The pics of Rob and his daughter on a recent vacation appear to indicate a loving relationship.

(True: Albert Brooks's original name was ... Albert Einstein.) I always thought Brooks was the edgier/funnier comedian/writer, but as I got older some of the contrasting sweetness of Reiner's movies started to grow on me. Both great American comics; I don't know how much of it translates to other cultures. What an awful end to a 65 year friendship.

My point being - it's hard for me to have empathy on addiction when I have no understanding of it and even those who do can't claim much since it's a monster.

I tried a lot of things in my younger days. But even with drinking, I was the guy who if I drank to excess (and really felt it) the night before, I didn't even want to look at a drink till the next weekend. I've seen some of these fentanyl stories. One of them followed an addict who "overdoses" (is there really such a thing with fentanyl?). He smokes it and within 10 seconds his head drops and they have to call 911 to Narcan him. When he comes too he says he doesn't remember anything after he lit the lighter. In other words, like being put under general anesthesia, counting backwards from 100 and you're out by 94. What "experience" is there to even enjoy? I can't imagine looking forward to general anesthesia because for a second or two I feel good (I guess; I don't remember) before I'm out cold.
