Woah, mesh on the most important passing down of the game!  Fortunately, NFL defenses don't spend their free time watching past games or looking into play calling tendencies!  

 

For real though, Joe Brady's entire passing philosophy boils down to "unga bunga ball catcher run into bad man."  That 2019 LSU offense was so talented that they averaged 48 points a game with this dude as the passing game coordinator.

If he was the passing game coordinator at Arkansas instead, nobody would know who he is. Perks of being at the right place at the right time.

I agree.  My gut is he will go the Matt Stafford route but here's to hoping it happens in Buffalo.

if not for the tip ball on the play prior a mesh concept would’ve worked stellar

I don’t have an issue with the concept or him using it.  I have an issue with him using it so consistently in high leverage situations.  
 

There’s a reason Spagnuolo knew what he was calling last year on the last 4th down play.  Brady is extremely predictable, which is a terrible trait.

Stafford was at a much worse organization.. gripe was much bigger and he still lasted 12 years 

 

He never won a playoff game and his average playoff losses were by 15 

 

We just lost in the AFC championship by a field goal... And win a playoff game at least every year

.476 or something - Stafford's win percentage with the Lions 

 

With zero NFC North titles 

 

Truly that is not even close to the same organizational failure 

 

Again Josh is much closer to Peyton Manning who didn't win a Super bowl till he was 30 but had a bunch of success... Couldn't get by Brady

if the throw was completed to Knox and he gets the first down the Texans accept the penalty and the Bills get another down. Yes it would have been 4th and long but 4th and long is better than the end of the game.

He’s also correct that all we run is mesh routes and defenses are completely keyed in on them.   When the pass rush comes quick, Josh just has to guess who might pop open.

This is one messed up executed play.

 

First, the crosser wipes out Knox's defender allowing Knox to be wide open.

 

Second, Josh has a tendency to lock onto the receiver he's going to throw to. Here he locks onto # 5 (Palmer) waiting for him to clear the deep safety. That's why he's cocked before anyone is in his face but doesn't deliver until he's pressured resulting in an underthrown ball off his backfoot.

 

Third, Palmer hesitates at the end of his route seemingly settling into a gap in the zone instead of continuing across the field. This results in him not being where Josh thinks he'll be when he releases the ball.

 

This play is illustrative of what I see from this year's Bills team -- failure to execute. That's not the only problem (injuries, etc.) but it's a major one.
