His issue with rushing in the interior will be his pad level, and lack of pass rush repertoire. Idk if he could attack from a 2 point stance in a way that Solomon can. Without the right leverage vs the interior offensive lineman, he’d really need to be able to develop the ability to use his long limbs to create the much needed extension required to move these guys. Without it, I imagine he’d be stonewalled with limited skills to disengage. Taking off from a 3 point stance could help with this, but it limits the “move” ability that brings a sense of unpredictability to the rush. Edited 2 hours ago by EmotionallyUnstable Quote

Someone that's 6'6 270, played in the SEC at all DL spots and OLB? We need a big, bald, batcrap crazy redneck. Do we have that? Sound a bit like Joey Bosa, except OSU isn’t in the SEC Quote

I agree and that's why I think we'd be better off with Thompson on the line Rushing the passer is difficult. It's not simply see ball get ball. HIs tracking to the quarterback was off. He would be better as an off the line backer playing as a spy to rush the passer. Too lazy to get into the nuances of it for those curious why. Just going to say that he doesn't have a nose for it, or the dog that it would take to get in there and be nasty. 1 Quote
MasterStrategist Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) We are losing the "power"/bull rush, and ability to anchor with Hoecht out. You could slot Hoecht at the 3 technique/4i on 3rd and 4-5. and not worry about his run defense either. Thats the big loss, that versatility- not sure they trust Solomon or Dorian at that distance to put them inside. 3rd and 6+, absolutely Dorian on the line makes alot of sense. He did a great job "sugaring" the C and got Hoecht or Solomon into some 1-1s vs thr guard -- then basically became a spy on Mahomes/helped eliminate Patrick getting outside the pocket/rushing up the middle. How many times did Mahomes take off successfully? Very few, because Dorian was effective at that spy/contain role. Edit: will just add, I think the 3 DL 2 LB 6 DBs (dime looks) is something McD has adjusted to playing against KC --- however, not sure we see that against many other teams. My point is that Im not sure we see many 3 man DL, unless a team with a team/qb who likes to move the pocket. That said, Dorian might not be deployed in this type of role week to week/its very matchup dependent. Edited 2 hours ago by MasterStrategist Quote

It really isn’t necessary to have that vs a guy like Tua, Flacco, Rodgers and even Stroud. 1 Quote
