In today's NFL, these front offices are basically playing a "real" fantasy football game with their rosters. You pay the wrong guy(s), or a slew of injuries, it ruins things in a hurry. It's not as easy as people think. In Cincy's case, they paid the QB & Chase big bucks. Throw in Higgins now, a significant chunk of the cap is taken up. The trade-off is losing guys like Joe Mixon, a pretty good RB, and the other 50 guys get the leftovers (defense anyone? lol). While the cap is great in theory, it also kind of penalizes a team who happens to hit on a draft class, as everybody's contract runs out in 4 or 5 years. Look at some of these QBs who got off to rocky starts and teams chose not to keep them around.... some are thriving now (Darnold, Mayfield, Daniel Jones). Edited 2 hours ago by DrBob806 Quote

I think Flacco's accuracy and ball placement is really high level and gives those guys a chance to make plays. Joe obviously has the experience to understand what defenses are trying to do and disguise. So the combo of Flacco and those elite receivers is better than what anyone could have imagined. He wasn't this effective on the Browns obviously. Browning's a nobody, a bum. Flacco is very smart, seen it all, very accurate and still spins a tight spiral. Quote

I'm not saying he's not good or even great, but he's a true "system" QB, whereas I think you could plop Allen, Mahomes, Jackson, and probably Herbert onto any team in any system and they would thrive. I'd add Stafford to that top 5 , bumping Joe down the list 1 Quote

Since 2023 he's 2nd in TDs with 82 and 2nd in passing yards and 6th in passer rating. He beats Allen in all 3 of those categories. Quote

In which he had not only Chase, but Justin Jefferson to throw to. I've LONG said he's not elite. He does have some good traits. But take away Chase and or Higgins and he's not winning you games by himself. He's also the QB of a team that has often found themselves on the bad end of a game script. He pads his stats late in games far too often. Half the time just flinging balls in the direction of Chase who bails him out with amazing grabs. Now saying all that, I do not say he is a bad QB or talentless. But people wanna stick him in the top 3 or top 5...and that's nonsense. I could maybe be talked into the 6-10 tier. That's pretty funny. But it's also pretty accurate. what does that tell you if Beane took his head out of you know where, and found us two stud WR’s, vs. being on the cheap. Josh would win MVP literally every freakin year. Quote
