nemhoff Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Cuse is back in action!! I didn’t see a thread for the new season yet and there are a number of posters here that I really appreciate hearing from (especially living out in Oregon). So let’s fire it back up… The last few years have pretty much sucked, I am cautiously optimistic about the talent on the roster and have a feeling that Red better show up this year or he might be done. So, let’s hear it fellas - how are you feeling? Exhibition game #2 tonight - let’s go Orange! 1 Quote

I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but if we do not improve or show signs of becoming a legit team again, I think Red is done too 1 Quote
Metal Man Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Definitely a make or break year for Red but I'm not sure Cuse has much hope in the new NIL/Transfer Portal age. To me this past NCAA tournament was one of the most boring I can remember with all the big schools just dominating. Can't be a coincidence that happened along with the Nil and transfer stuff blowing up. 2 Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 29 Posted October 29 I was just trying to read up on them and watch the highlights of the first exhibition game. this might be rose colored glasses, but I think we can be really good. It’s got to start on the defensive end, And Red is going to have to really figure out these rotations. We could go 10 deep. Quote

Can't be a coincidence that happened along with the Nil and transfer stuff blowing up. My school (Xavier In Cincinnati) branded itself with basketball. That has disappeared. You can no longer brag about graduating all your players, you just hope to be able to name a few. I don’t begrudge them getting paid, nor do I hate them having some mobility. Unfortunately, the resulting product we have now is something I just don’t care for as much. It’s like a new pickup game at the Y every season with players going to the highest bidders. Good for them, but I just don’t care. Anyway, my sister and a good friend went to Syracuse so I always had one eye on them. It’s the first college campus I ever saw. Good luck! 1 2 Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Couldn’t see the opener with this YouTube TV/espn spat. Looks like Kyle looked great. hopefully JJ isn’t out too long. Quote

I know it's just the opening game against scrubs but we really haven't looked at sharp in a while I thought before the season if they gel they could be a tournament team and there is a lot of talent 1 Quote
Buffalo716 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 This team threw more alley oops and dunked yesterday more times than they probably have in 2 years combined lol I will say the one thing.. I love Syracuse basketball We've had plenty of good teams over the years.. but the last couple years, especially when our back court was Buddy boeheim and Joe Girard there was good shooting ability but not much in the athleticism department We got some dogs back there.. Nate kingz and Naithan George are good , Donnie Freeman , JJ starling coming back... Kiyan dropped 15.. this team has explosiveness and has not had in a while Quote

And he was all over the court on D, setting picks, moving without the ball. Couldn’t be more different from the last couple of seasons. Kiyan has no fear, has his dad’s confidence that’s for sure. and hopefully Starling will be ok, feel like he is always injured with something. nice to see the Orange play with some defensive intensity too! 1 Quote
Buffalo716 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Another scrub in Delaware state but this definitely looks like a tournament team It took years but we are finally back to Old School Syracuse size length and athleticism Haven't seen a Syracuse team move like this in a while 1 Quote

I love that they are actually playing defense. And I love the confidence that Kiyan and Sadiq are playing with for Freshmen. They need to stop the stupid turnovers and hopefully getting JJ into the lineup will help with that. if Freeman plays like this and stays healthy he is gone after this year. He has been dominate so far. 1 Quote
The Poojer Posted Monday at 03:40 PM Posted Monday at 03:40 PM I went to the Syracuse v Drexel game saturday in Philly. It's been a long time since i saw a SU Hoops game live, 'Nova v SU when DiVincenzo hit a buzzer beater for the win. I'd forgotten how fun they were. The arena was definitely an Orange crowd. It was really nice to see so many SU Alum in attendance, Melo, McCord, Demetrius Nichols, Tyus Battle, Billy Owens. This is a very fun, young team. Get starling healthy and this team can cause some problems. 1 1 1 2 Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Finally got to see these guys against Monmouth. Sort of a gritty win. The officiating was dreadful, and I felt impacted how they wanted to play on defense. This Houston game could be one of the biggest games for them in a long time. 1 Quote

Yeah it was a weird game They didn't look as sharp as they have.. and Monmouth did come out with a lot of energy But a dub is a dub .. beating Houston will 100% make me believe this is a sweet 16 team or better 2 Quote

I just feel like a ton is riding on these next games for the entire future of the program and Autry. 1 Quote
