Pat McAfee is no Lee Corso

I've been watching College Gameday since the Tim Brando, Lee Corso & Beano Cook days.

 

Lee Corso had to retire and probably should have earlier. Despite that, his impact on the show was definitive, and he is sorely missed.

 

It wasn't just the headgear, Corso provided good analysis and insight without being a big mouth.

 

College Gameday is still a good show, even if it is too long. Rece Davis is a good host and Kirk Herbstreit and Desmond Howard are good at analysis, although Desmond needs to stop laughing at every single joke on the show. Nick Saban looks and sounds like he's on life support, and then there's Pat McAfee.

 

McAfee has been given the distinction of taking Corso's place with the last prediction of the headlining game. Always kissing up to the host crowd, being very loud, taking  his shirt off, and why is he always standing on his chair? We can see you fine, Pat.

 

ESPN needs to find someone a little less spritely to fill the void of Lee Corso.

McAfee is annoying, but unlike Saban, Kirk and Desmond, he picked IU to beat Ill, Iowa and Oregon.

I agree.  Im not a McAfee hater, really... but in that role and for that show, they need to do better.

Nothing topped Chris Schenkel and the college football Big Board. His announcing a score update as the sliding insert numbers from behind it were being changed was priceless.

I don't recall seeing that many on the panel picking Iowa to beat Indiana. Wasn't Lavar Arrington the only one who picked the Hawkeyes?

I just watched college game day.

 

I thought McAfee did a good job in the Corso role without being Corso.

 

He was talking up Georgia but walking the line and you didnt know if he was going to take a hard left and go Ole miss or not.  He picked Georgia and hyped up the crowd and I thought it was well done and fun.

 

Let's see how he does/handles going against the home crowd though

Mcafee has grown on me a bit .  But I suspect his schtick will get old. What really matters is how much the 18-30 crowd likes him.

He’s fine on there. The show would be so much better if they dumped Des. He sucks.

Saban is the best part pf college gameday and it’s not close. Mcafee is an acquired taste but I do like how much money he gives away with the FG contests
