Does this sound, at all, sustainable to you?

nope.  Either the supplements get reinstated,  millions of people who are currently insured become uninsured or we go to a Medicare for all model.  My friend's no fool.  The more I think about it, the more I suspect his concerns are warranted.  We've had the discussion before.  He knows I'm for universal coverage.  I didn't rub it in.  Honestly, I was shocked.

I wouldn’t argue with this.

The ACA was a lie.  You can be for covering pre-existing conditions (I am) but the lie it would lower costs was intentional because they knew it would never pass without that lie.

I don’t even know how capitalism survives the next 30-40 years if I’m being honest.

Once AI destroys industries and results in massive layoffs, no one will own anything and most will be dependent upon the government for more than just healthcare.

The only thing standing in the way of congress doing their job is 6 democrat senators willing to put country over party and voting exactly as they did earlier this year.

Maybe they should throw them a bone then instead and not have to get 100% of what they want and extend the tax care credits.  Maybe 98% of what they want would be okay.  They don't have a supermajority here.  They obviously don't have a health care alternative plan and very few voters give a crap about the rising federal debt.  It should be a really simple fix.

The Democrats should make sure that hungry people get fed, the military gets paid, government employees get back to work, and air traffic controllers get paid. They can negotiate the ACA afterwards. It will only take six of them to do the right thing.

Or they can use hunger and lack of paychecks as leverage.
