Biggest question after reading the story and watching the interview: Is the on camera confession admissible in a criminal prosecution? Or will it be argued the police coached the newsman on how to interview the son and, by proxy, this was an interrogation without Miranda warnings? This will be a Dateline episode in no time. Quote

If the reporters were not acting as agents of the Police... the confession is admissible if it was not coerced. If the defense has evidence that the media were agents of the Police, they would certainly play that card and possibly win. Though, I bet there is other incriminating evidence in this case--this guy doesn't seem like a master criminal. 1 Quote

In fact, I think the son actually wrote a letter to the news station asking them for the interview. The NYS Police began a “financial crimes” investigation at the house for a few days before the son went on camera. I’m thinking he was collecting Mom and Dad’s pension checks, social security or other benefits for the last 8 years (financial crimes) which then resulted in homicide investigation. Quote

Maybe they were dead for a while naturally and he collected their money but wouldn’t he be able to afford a haircut in that scenario? He’s probably going to claim self defense because his parents forced him to grow up in Albany. He’ll walk. 1 Quote
