He is playing out of position.  He is playing a lot of DE because of injuries.  You’re getting down on him for not being a better DE when he’s a DT.

 

McDermott talked about this in a press conference.  Wanting to move him inside, his natural position.

Actually, he has been respectable at DE. I think having him there has helped with the run game. He's not getting sacks or pressure, but he has helped slow down the running backs in his direction.

He was drafted as an interior lineman, but since he came back from IR, most of his snaps have been as a LEO or REO, a combo DE/OLB/Edge.
