Three things here:

 

1.  I want one of those trophies. 

2.  Rapp brought no game. He refused to answer any player questions.

3.  Hamlin should have been disqualified on the spot for even attempting to defend Ranch.

Rapp interpreted it live as cojones, whereas I think you correctly see it purely as self-preservation after that first taste of pain.
