I know my congressman never campaigned on that topic. I am a fan of cutting all fed programs because they are all poorly run. He did campaign on it. Pushed hard for it in 2016 and 2024. All of them are poorly run? Fine. What's you alternative? Put more spikes on benches because of the increase in homelessness? 2 hours ago, Big Blitz said: And that’s all they did. They barely touched entitlements - there are no changes to those that need the safety nets most. Specifically single moms with kids under 14. No changes. Trump had to work with a group of fiscal hawks or the bill would not pass. Considering the coalition it was an impressive job by Johnson and House Whip Emmer. You really don't know how politics work. This thing was going to pass on July 4th from the start. Everything before is just performance art. Those fiscal conservatives were always going to vote yes. You know how I know? They just voted on a bill that raises the deficit by 4.6 trillion dollars. They can now say "hey at least we cut some social program money." If you think these Medicaid and SNAP cuts will only weed out the leaches I have a bridge to sell you. Edited 15 hours ago by Doc Brown 1

I don't appreciate Trump sucking but getting all high and mighty is absurd. Do you believe the government does a good and efficient job in implementing social programs? If so which ones? I am not going to attack but I am actually curious How about this. Tell me which social programs are bad and should be cut. Apparently, says MAGA, Medicaid has significant bad elements, as does SNAP. So we're booting a both of people off of both programs. Despite the hand-wringing of some populist MAGA. So which other ones are bad, I ask you. 7 hours ago, CoudyBills said: Making light of the flood in Texas is pretty low, even for a piece of ***** like you. Meanwhile you ignore a small village of children who died because of gross incompetence of a number of adults, including those who cut the NWS and failed to install an adequate emergency warning system. Then, the fool who green-checked your post also is the same guy who posted a friggin video of some of the survivors being reunited with their parents. Nothing like exploiting kids for MAGA.

The number of federal grants that accomplish nothing is staggering, and the amount of abuse of SNAP and Medicaid is terrible. We as a society need to stop pushing the current problems cost onto our children financially.

Trump and many Republicans campaigned on not cutting any aspect of the public safety net. They did. They try to coax it with rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse with work requirements to keep the base happy. They still cut Medicaid and SNAP benefits no matter how slice it. The way they frame it is insulting to one's intelligence. The way I chose to frame it is an attempt to point out Democrat hypocrisy. The other issue I continue to have is the manner in which the Medicaid and SNAP cuts are framed. When anyone with a heart reads "Trump is cutting Medicaid and SNAP" they immediately get upset. What people are failing to do is actually read what the cuts are. This is the real insult to people's intelligence. Both the Medicaid and SNAP benefits cuts do impact illegal immigrants, which is common sense. Both cuts impact able bodied citizens without dependents. And even in the case where they dont have dependents they still qualify for aid if they work at least 20 hours a month. The SNAP cuts did remove housing credits for phone and internet. Personally, I think people getting aid from the government should pay for their own phones and internet, despite that many state governments allow for free internet for low-income households. What the hyperbolic headlines should say is "Medicaid and SNAP Cuts to impact Illegal Immigrants, and Able-Bodied Americans not working 20 hours a month." Disabled people, and caretakers will still qualify for aid. I stand by my original statement which was to point out that the left wing only appears to care about children when it helps their narrative. They have no problem slaughtering babies by the millions. Make no mistake about it, this fake anger they are now showing about protecting children is about elections not actual empathy.

Make no mistake about it, this fake anger they are now showing about protecting children is about elections not actual empathy. They've tried work requirements in other states and it has failed miserably. The administrative costs associated with it was transferred directly to the taxpayer. The paperwork people working was too confusing and time consuming that many were kicked off medicaid despite working 40 hours a week but their job didn't pay them enough to where they were still eligible for medicaid and/or SNAP benefits. If there wasn't already proven failure at doing this at a local level where it just caused needy people to fall through the cracks then I wouldn't be bitching about it. The old trope of these massive amount of able bodied adults sitting in his mom's basement just isn't true. Republicans had all this information at their fingertips but knew that using that to cut Medicaid and SNAP would be popular with the base so they could justify breaking their campaign promises.
