See, this is what I hate about Dem leadership.

Trump has his own private Gestapo deporting citizens, inflation is up again, and now they’re trying to strip the citizenship of a political candidate. And Corey Booker decided that NOW is the right time to ram through this vastly unpopular idea?

Schumer and Pelosi have got to hang it up and give the keys to younger members.

Booker is 56.

If he gets the Dem nomination, welcome to President JD Vance in 2029

Because of systemic racism or just general idiocy?

He's not that old. That's the point.

The MAGA guys are much younger than that. Vance is 40, for instance. MTG is 50.

You were ranting and raving about Pelosi and Schumer. Try and keep up.

We should give all slaves reparations.

Oh, they're all dead. Nevermind. If you can prove in court that slavery has negatively impacted your life then feel free to bring it to a courtroom if you think you have a case. Otherwise STFU and stop bringing up race. Morgan Freeman says it best:

In theory, I have no quarrel with the concept. Our forebears allowed/encouraged people to be shackled and transported to the USA to take advantage of free labor. A strong reparations act c. 1870 would have been fair and good.

But there's no way to decide who is entitled to what 150 years later. No one has come up with a workable concept, at least not one that doesn't get us involved is some kind of government-sponsored Henry Louis Gates genealogy project (you qualify if at least one of your great-great-great grandparents is proven to have been enslaved for at least 5 years or something like that). The remedy would be worse than the disease.

Right, I’m saying the party leadership of people in their 80s need to have a better grip on what idiots like Booker are doing. There’s no cohesive national opposition campaign.

We're in the 2028 positioning period. Booker didn't catch fire at all the last time around. He is viewed as a more centrist, and so he's trying to pick up support from a more left wing black base.

Interesting, though, that his "baby bonds" concept is now part of the Republican pro-family plan. It didn't catch on with Dems, but it caught on with Republicans.

Sure, and he scored points with his big filibuster speech a while ago.

But he has to be smarter than this. He has to realize that this is a bad policy and one that hurts the Democratic image.

You can also say Jim Crow held people back. If my father had been black he wouldn't of attended the same school, same army unit, same university, etc. I would of grown up poorer, in a different social economic place. Ya, its all true, but how you gonna hand out money to people like that. It would create a backlash, feed a stereotype and add a level of toxicity to our political discourse. Native Americans next? How about women?

He's just mad that Trump's nomination for the federal appeals court in his state is a Bills fan.

The reparations discussion is a ploy to try and regain African American voters.  Trump received more African American votes that any Republican in the last fifty years.

The democrats know reparations are not feasible.   How will they force 342 million people to take a DNA test?   What about people who have both slave and slave holder DNA?   What about American ancestors of the African tribal chiefs who sold their people into slavery to start with?   Do we include reparations for ancestors of white slaves from the Barbary Coast from ancestors of slave holders from North Africa?   Do we stop at American slavery, or do we include ancestors of Jewish people who endured the Holocaust?   American ancestors of people subjugated by the Romans, Ottomans, Chinese, Egyptians, and Mayans?   Where does it stop?

Find me a person who didn't have an ancestor persecuted at some point in history, you're going to be looking awhile.

The mere mention of reparations is a complete and utter scam to attempt to convince African Americans in poverty that there is a golden ticket waiting for them.    Corey Booker is either a complete idiot or a total scumbag.

Then he should bust out his checkbook and give his money away.  So sick of this ***** narrative.  You want to give reparation, you should volunteer into a 5% tax for blacks.
