Finns are alot like northern Swedes. Quiet and reserved att first but very friendly when you get to know them (or after a couple of drinks). Hope you enjoyed it. And if you ever get to Stockholm and want to watch an NFL-game. Send a DM. I am a friendly guy in real life. My limited experience with Finns agrees. Although my somewhat greater experience with Swedes agrees too! 1

Roundybout Posted Wednesday at 09:30 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 09:30 PM https://www.thejournal.ie/jd-vance-baby-dail-6743403-Jun2025/?utm_source=twitter_short Quote A MEME OF US Vice President JD Vance depicted as a baby was held up in the Dáil today by Labour leader Ivana Bacik. Bacik used the prop to illustrate her frustration at the United States’ recent clampdown on international visas, including the popular J1 visa used by Irish students. Earlier this week, the US announced that future applicants looking to visit the country will be required to divulge “all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last five years” on their visa application form. They are also required to set their social media profiles to public. Getting arrested for memes is North Korea type ***** 1

You’re forgetting the “having hundreds of millions of dollars worth of pocket change to spend on buying political influence” part
Orlando Buffalo Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago This story seems to be the dividing line of true TDS, if you believe this guy was not allowed to enter because of a meme you definitely have TDS. If you recognize the fact that he was rejected due to drugs, then you don't have TDS. I had a coworker today tell me they believe it is the meme, I was very disappointed because he is a nice guy 2

I had a coworker today tell me they believe it is the meme, I was very disappointed because he is a nice guy I have no opinion about why this guy was denied admission and turned around because I don't know the relevant facts. I do know the relevant law and longstanding policy: you will be admitted as a visitor if you "qualify" as a true nonimmigrant (that means you're not planning to stay longer than the authorized period, usually 90 days, you're not planning to work without authorization, etc.) AND you are not "inadmissible" for some reason. Having a political opinion contrary to the USA's political posture at the time is not a ground of inadmissibility. Having various criminal convictions, including those related to a controlled substance, is. Having admitted (or shown, e.g. on social media) may be considered a ground of inadmissibility, but traditionally it would not be invoked - we allow probably hundreds of thousands of admitted marijuana users to come in to go to Phish concerts, etc., every year. So there is a story here which could have to do with what he was carrying or what smartass thing he said (about drug use?) or maybe an overzealous inspector a little too concerned about JD Vance's feelings. Which one, I don't know.
