Big Blitz Posted yesterday at 02:22 AM Posted yesterday at 02:22 AM One last hurdle tomorrow: The U.S. and China have reached an agreement on trade, representatives from both sides said after a second day of high-level talks in London. “We have reached a framework to implement the Geneva consensus and the call between the two presidents,” U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told reporters. That echoed comments to reporters from Li Chenggang, China’s international trade representative and a vice minister at China’s Commerce Ministry. U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke by phone late last week, stabilizing what had become a fraught relationship with both countries accusing each other of violating the Geneva trade agreement. At a meeting in Switzerland in mid-May, the world’s two largest economies had agreed to a 90-day suspension of reciprocal tariffs added in April, and a rollback of certain other measures. Lutnick said he and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will head back to Washington, D.C., to “make sure President Trump approves” the framework. If Xi also approves it, then “we will implement the framework,” Lutnick said. Chinese restrictions on rare-earth exports to the U.S. are a “fundamental part” of the latest agreement and the U.S. expects the issue “will be resolved in this framework implementation,” Lutnick said. He indicated U.S. restrictions on sales of advanced tech to China in recent weeks would be rolled back as Beijing approves rare-earth exports. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/06/11/us-china-agree-on-framework-to-implement-geneva-trade-consensus-.html 2 1 2

Remember when he just changed the name on NAFTA and called it a great accomplishment? Also the tariffs are still in place.
Andy1 Posted yesterday at 03:26 PM Posted yesterday at 03:26 PM This is Trump getting nothing. All the financial losses to American businesses and consumers just so we can continue to pay more in tariffs than before Trump. The key issues remain unresolved.

They want those Walmart workers to make $25 an hour but they don't want to pay more for the Walmart items to make it happen. Then where does the money come from? It makes no sense.

Tariffs are one form of government interference in the market between buyers and sellers. And if you feel this way about tariffs I assume you don't support blue state liberals that demand everyone makes a "living wage" and legislate to raise wages higher which increase the costs to businesses which results in businesses raising prices on consumers. In either case you're going to pay more. Both tariffs and minimum wage laws interfere with the market. Both increase costs to consumers but the majority of Trump haters are generally okay with minimum wage laws. A big part of the reason a Big Mac Meal is $10.19. 1
