The NFL reallllllyyy wants the Giants to be good or decent this year. I have already seen the national pundits saying the Giants had a great draft and "could be a sleeper team" blah blah blah. They will win 5-6 games and Daboll will get fired.

Yeah.  Screams crash and burn to me.  The defense seems interesting at least with some really great players like holland burns and lawrence + a shiny new pass rusher.  I just see them fading in a tough division as a team with a consistently poor offensive line, which is especially challenging when your QB's are russell wilson and a rookie.  Daboll's teams usually aren't that great at running the ball - the only time's they're near the top of the league is when allen or jones had basically their career high in rushing yards.

I can't believe he wasn't fired tbh.  Sunk cost I guess, or just whiffed on the good candidates this time around.  Dart will get a new coach next year.  Spinning the wheels 🙂

Great summary of the Blue team sinking in the swamps of New Jersey.  When your owner, GM and coach think you can replace Saquon Barkley with Devin Singletary, and have guys like Jermaine Eluminore blocking, thats a big problem.  Yes their O line seems like they have been as bad as any in the league for the past decade easily.  Do they even have an O line coach?  LOL

Just a joke of a franchise at this point.  Wellington Mara must be cussing his son from the grave with all his might.  I hope they give Jameis Winston a chance to play.  Way more exciting and better than Russell Wilson.  And then should be interesting to see what happens with Jaxson Dart.

Maybe they can bring back Eli if none of these guys work out.  LOL

The Giants have been bad since Coughlin left but this is still an organization that has won 4 Super Bowls and played in 5 overall since 1986. Four championships in the last 39 years is pretty good.

I think they were right to move on from barkley personally, but the bigger mistake was hanging onto jones.  They wanted one of the top 2 guys in a pretty loaded 2024 class, and ended up on a WR which was not the answer to turning jones into a useful QB.  Nabers will be a good player, but now you're getting Dart off the board later in the 1st vs. a draft where 6 went in the top 12.

I don't know enough about QB talent to gauge what that means, but it feels a lot like drafting daniel jones the year after mayfield allen jackson & darnold.

He reminds me of Herbert. Regular season puts up some great numbers and makes you go "hey he really could be a threat" ... and then the post season comes and he is trash and you go "oh yea nevermind".

They are the anti-Josh Allen in the postseason.

I will give them that.  And they unfortunately beat us in Super Bowl 25.  (Bad memories-I was there!)  I used to have a lot of respect for their franchise back in the day.  They had a lot of good hard nose tough football players.  I was always a big Harry Carson fan.  And their coaching going back to Parcells was top notch.

But the past decade has been a tire fire in the swamps.  I went to the Cowboys-Giants game at Met Life Stadium in 2013 the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  I took my two sons up to NYC for the weekend.  They had never been there.  It was absolutely freezing at the game.  And it gets dark real early late in the season for those 4:25 games in the North East.  Tony Romo drove the Cowboys down the field late and Dan Bailey kicked the winning FG at the end.  The crowd was pissed off.  Lot of anger in the stands that day.

I never followed Daniel Jones' career in college at Duke.  But drafting any player that high (especially a QB) from Duke seems very risky.  Unless they play basketball of course.  Dart played in the SEC against obviously good competition.  But how he will do in the pros remains to be seen.  I know he did not look very good last year against Florida.  And Ole Miss barely beat a pretty mediocre to poor Mississippi State team as well.

Maybe Dart will be the answer at some point.  But they had better get their O line repaired for whomever is playing QB this year.  Because it has been real bad for a long time now.

So here is the thing. Daniel Jones best season came (and he was pretty decent) with Barkley in the backfield. If you are going to pay Jones the money you might as well pay the guy who helped him get to that point also. Maybe Jones would have developed more from there too where Barkley was a little more expendable, but to me it was foolish all the way around. Either go in on the experiment which paid off with both doing well or just reset the deck completely. They picked the middle (which many teams do) and wasted time and years they could've been building a nice base.

It is legitimately wild that a franchise that has had Fouts, Brees, Rivers, & now Herbert who is good... saw their only SB appearance with Stan freaking Humphries. There has to be some weird curse where they are allowed success and good QBs that teams would kill for... but no post season glorly lol

There is something about those Sundays in November in the Northeast once daylight savings hits that is slightly comforting but also a bummer because you know winter is coming.

I know what you mean.  I have lived in the South my entire adult life.  But come November I like when it gets dark early.  Always have.  But I do like the sun in the winter low in the sky with real pretty sunsets on a crisp winter day.  How could you not?  And there is lots of pro and college football, with the games meaning more and more each week!!

Yep. A nice Saturday or Sunday where you get the yard work done then football time and it is warm enough to leave the windows open where the cool air feels good as the sun fades is elite as hell. November football also the stakes are super high across the board and many teams both NFL/CFB are fighting for their lives.

Sure but my point is over the last decade they are clearly a top 10 team they just haven't had any playoff success.

Pre 2016 I would agree. But the last decade the numbers show they've been in the top 10 for wins, playoff appearances, and division crowns. Come playoff time they just can't do a thing. A team being in the top 1/3 of the NFL is not mediocre.

Does not make sense--they cannot be a top ten team if they have not had almost any playoff success.  And they have a dismal record, especially the last few years, against the good teams during the regular season.

They have put no fear in almost any good teams, and that is especially true of teams with good defenses. Prescott almost always looks lost, confused, with the old adage, "like a deer in the headlights", an accurate image of poor ol' Zak whenever he faces a good defense.

While I do like some  of their off season moves this year, such as the acquisition of Pickens, Jones has been a mess as their GM since Jimmy, a true football guy, left in the 1990s.

Dallas will never be a fully loaded talented team until Jones gives control of the girls to a real football man--again. One way or another.

Top 20 team, maybe, but not a top ten team in the league now or recently.
