I implore everyone to ignore Homeboy just for this thread. We were doing so well.

Dude, can we just have THIS thread? Just one? Eyeroll my posts, then move onto another. Please.

To argue Floyd did not need to die is one thing, to praise him and canonize him is terrible.

Pretty excellent way of summing up a horrible situation. I will argue all day he indeed did not need to die, but the murals, marches, etc are insane. And that training manual that wasn’t allowed into evidence is shocking.

While I don’t want this to be a Floyd thread - there are many I’m sure - you put it about as succinctly as I’ve seen. 👍

I am not trying to be difficult but seriously curious what is something that Republicans say that Dems believe is equal to men can become women or George Floyd was a good person deserving praise? I don't understand Dems generally and I agree that this thread has been interesting.

You’ve got an entire echo chamber built for people like you. If you just want to play hall monitor and rant without pushback, go there. This space is for people still grounded in reality.

I have two in particular but I’d prefer to hold on them for now. Enjoying this discussion and I think I’ll get roasted and this will turn south quick if I do.

Ok. Fine. You all have been open here; I’ll say the lies/horrific overstating about men being in women’s/girls restrooms. Trans people do exist and do need to pee. And the VAST majority are just trying to do that; pee and move on (sentence I didn’t think I’d ever type when joining TBD :) ). Will the rare big burly creepy man  throw on a dress and make his way to into a women’s room to harass or worse? Sure. But it’s certainly the rare exception, not happening daily like some of the Twitter posts pasted here make some believe. And there are horrible people who will do horrible things in every group. Every one.

So I think that’s a scare tactic used by the right to hate/dismiss a group of - almost exclusively - folks who just want to live their lives in the way they feel comfortable. Do I think that means I should be forced to sign work emails with “he/him?” No. But I also wouldn’t overreact if my employer did that.

Hope this doesn’t derail things.

The second I’ll wait on. There’s an entire other thread on it where I got too heated.

But did you actually read any of their replies here? I’m guessing not.

Sometimes when you are being honest your words come out different than expected. I assume you don't know many people who are trans, I actually know more than most, and they are all mentally ill. Of the ones I know there is several cases of sexual abuse, and several of abusive parents, none of which was trans person fault. The issue definitely comes from forcing others to pretend. If a dude wears a dress most don't care, but to expect others to validate a mental illness is wrong, especially when it costs a girl a chance to win. I doubt you and I are that far apart from what you say, but that last leg of the Dem platform is evil to me.

I don’t understand why we can’t all agree that the lefts identity politics is absurd and harmful while at the same time admit Trumps ideology has turned concerningly authoritarian. Why would anyone blindly support either side. I understand if you lean right and voted for Trump. Makes sense.  But the trumpers on here will defend everything he does to no end. Biden’s dementia doesn’t mean Trump should have free rein in ruling the country.

We have countless threads outlining their grievances - many of which echo talking points straight from MAGA-affiliated, Russian-paid influencers. Just look at what actually sets them off.

You're not here to listen to those concerns; you're here to amplify them. You're nothing but a mole.

Thank you @K D - you couldn’t have done a better job exposing the cult’s hypocrisy. This perfectly illustrates why they deserve to be ridiculed, not coddled - watch them melt faster than snowflakes under a heat lamp.

They were obsessed with Biden and Harris’s mental fitness, and this is what they voted for...

The irony writes itself.

Yep - I agree we’re not that far apart but I do indeed know three trans people closely. One certainly suffers from mental illness; . One is an employee of mine, and another is much closer; I’ll leave it at that, and hope others will spare jokes on me saying they are close. It’s family. Not that I need to say but I am indeed married to a woman.

As far as discussion in general,  I’ve decided that if I’m going to continue to post on this subforum I’m going to use words and tone I would use if I was sitting at a bar next to the person I’m “arguing” with (despite having quit the sauce 4 years ago next month, I do still go to breweries because shockingly enough they are one of the best places - generally - to have lunch with a toddler in tow.) That hasn’t been how I’ve handled this in the past and all that got was - from both sides - ridiculous name calling, hyperbole, and hate.

I guarantee 99.9% of the vitriol spat here wouldn’t happen at a tailgate.

Wow. Have a great weekend. Get outside.

They spent four years whining about the cost of everything - a mess Biden inherited straight from Trump 1.0 - and then had the nerve to attack him for not fixing Trump’s disasters fast enough.

Never mind that Biden handed Trump 2.0 an economy on the upswing, delivered historic infrastructure investments (you know, the stuff that was always two weeks away under Trump), pushed through the CHIPS Act, and actually got things done. And what did Trump do? Wrecked it all - again.

And the cult? Just watch how they squirm and deflect when their hypocrisy gets called out. It’s practically a reflex at this point.

The point is your party is an absolute joke so now Trump is doing whatever he wants because it was better than any other option presented to the voters. You brought this on yourself by pretending Joe Biden wasn't a potato and Kamala wasn't completely brain dead. Deal with the consequences

So you think it's ok to exploit illegal migrants for cheap labor? That's pretty messed up

Im truly not trolling. I would love to get some conversation going with folks I respect on the other side of the isle like @B-Man and @JDHillFan, (and others).

I voted for Trump and would again because we need a better education system in this country. We need people who know aisle from isle. Trump will fix this! MSGA!

I'm an independent libertarian (notice the lower case L). Trump was the lesser of two evils. Everyone hates him that has power... I hate everyone that has the power over this country and has held it in the uniparty for 40-50 years. So, yeah, hopefully checks and balances can be restored to the presidency. Maybe one day the Senate will get the head out of their ass but that isn't likely since the 17th amendment destroyed what was a fabric of our Republic. The house is a joke in every way. The state governments are still holding on by a shred of chance, but only some states and not all.

California, Colorado New York, Michigan, Washington, Hawaii are all too far gone one way down the aisle. Nebraska, ND, SD, Oklahoma, and several other states are still doing just what they were 100 years ago. This is a good thing because states should choose their own whole being a part of the larger Republic. But, since Lincoln that's all been screwed up, too.

I'd vote for Trump again because Democrats and the bull#### they pull is far more disgraceful to humanity than the Trump Administration. Honoring George Floyd all over the country today, smeaing Kavanaugh, Russia hoax, the Clinton and Obama mafia (back to back with the Bush family), is all ridiculous.

Anyone else would be better than another politician.
