I have had an EGO for a few years now. Battery doesn’t hold as much anymore, Had to buy a knock off second battery.

Between the two batteries and the weather and my schedule, i feel

Like it takes me like 3 days to mow my .5 acre yard!

LOL, so growing season you just finish and have to start all over?

If you had to replace your Ego tomorrow would you go back to gas?

despite how silly it feels mowing the lawn in phases, I am glad I have it. I used to spend money every year getting my old gas mower fixed, so it’s nice not to have to mess around with that constantly.

right after I posted, I mowed my lawn. Burned through both my batteries and got only 1/2 the lawn done! I will say that I tried cutting very short today, which makes the battery drop a lot quicker. Oh, well. Taking a charge break.

Good luck with the mower! This is the only mildly annoying part.

I bought a Ryobi because it runs on 18v batteries that are the same as my power tools and I have 5 or 6 batteries around the house.  I also live in a small city and only have 1/3 of an acre for my yard.  The plus side is that the mower is very light.  You can literally throw the thing around.  Like others have said, I do tend to go through 2 or 3 batteries but I have a bunch of them and mow my lawn probably every two weeks.  If my lawn was much bigger I don't think I'd still use this mower.  I know they make bigger ones and even riding electric mowers.  If I was going to invest that much I might just buy one of those GPS mower things on tracks that will mow your lawn in the summer and snow blow your driveway in the winter.

The one thing I didn't make sure of is whether the battery for the Ego works with their other products. Lawn mower battery is pretty beefy, maybe heavier than I'd want for a weed whacker or leaf blower, but that's a next year problem - when my local town will likely ban  gas powered whackers/blowers.

Not sure how true this is, but the sales guy at Lowe’s told me when I bought my mower that instead of buying a second battery,  I was better off also buying a snowblower or weed whacker, as those come with the same battery and the cost wasn’t that much higher versus buying an extra EGO battery. (I will say that I ended up just buying a cheap Amazon knock off battery for my second battery).

That was my plan as well -buy another Ego and I have a backup battery for both. But the weight/size of the lawn mower battery makes me question whether it plugs into Ego's weed whacker. TBH, I got the electric mower in large part anticipating the upcoming ban on gas blowers/whackers.

I like my Greenworks electric lawn mower. We are slowly moving to all battery electric lawn and garden tools. I will keep my gas powered edger tho. I also bought a sprayer from Greenworks. It uses the same battery as my mower, which is a nice bonus. I use it to spray for mosquitos. The sprayer paid for itself in about 3-4 applications. The concentrate is about $50. I use it for myself snd two friends’ places. It’s more than enough for the whole season.

Fixed every year?  I haven't repaired my gas mower in years... What are you doing to yours?

Always keep it full with gas.  Right to top!

I do absolutely nothing,  except fill and put it in garage... Let it sit all winter too

i have no idea! It was a Husquavarna that I really loved. But every year, something would go awry and I couldn’t get it to start. Finally, I was done putting $75 each year into a $200 mower.

Kill switch, deadman cable staying grounded to coil OR grounded on a piece of metal somewhere... Bypass that ***** -er is the first thing.  Just say safe and don't have a heart attack while mowing. LoL...

That will give you hit and miss starts, frustrating the way they design some mowers, etc...

I can't kill my mower after 20 years, a Honda... Which I think those basstards stopped making gas mowers in US.  I'd squeeze together the kill lever high on engine with a cable tie, one easy way to stop it was to choke it from getting air by air cleaner... lol

The difference in maintenance for a gas mower (some)  versus an electric (none) sold me on the electric.

Your lawn mower is probably a 40-volt battery.  Many weed whackers, hedge cutters, and leaf blowers use 18 volts.   I don't know if Ego offers both 18 volt and 40 volt tools, but they probably do.

Ego batteries are all 56 volts .

You should get someone to cut your grass one or two days and save the last for yourself!
