I mean I'm still hoping they win every game, you'll never catch me rooting against the Bills. But if we lose enough games to miss the playoffs it's not gonna bother me as long as it forces the necessary changes. Mentally I have already written off this year. My problem with missing the playoffs, getting a better draft pick - it’s not going to force any necessary front office changes. It’s not worth debating bc Pegula isn’t firing anyone. Because of Josh we have a punchers chance in the playoffs, but we know bc of this roster we aren’t good enough. Good. But not good enough. Too many injuries on defense and the worst collection of weapons for Josh since 2018. We also might have coordinators not cut out for this. Good. But overmatched. I don’t know what the answer is. But I know if I’m the owner best solution might be - I waste zero time firing Beane and getting someone that has 3-5 years to figure it out. Then, if by Josh’s final act (age 34-39 seasons) that new regime hasn’t figured it out - I can hire another for one last chance to do so. Clock is ticking Terry. SCBills Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) When people reference too many injuries on Defense, what exactly are we saying? Hoecht and Oliver are legit losses. Big pieces of what they want to do on the DL. Absolutely an issue. Landon Jackson couldn’t even get active for half the season. Taylor Rapp might have been a decent duo with how Bishop is playing, but would Bishop have become this player with Rapp? Terrel Bernard will be back and needed to sit anyway. Bosa honestly should follow the Bernard example and sit until the playoffs. Unless his wrist can heal while playing, he’s not helpful out there with that injury. But he’s playing or will be back. So im to believe the Defense with a lucrative extension to CB1 Benford, plus a RD1 CB next to him, plus a RD2 stud Safety in Bishop, plus a RD3 LB in Williams with recently extended TB coming back and a healthy Shaq Thompson to with Bosa, Rousseau, Epenesa, $14M in vet DT’s with Jones & Ogunjobi a high draft pick DT and early 4th DT is incapable of giving us adequate defensive play in the postseason? All because we’re down Hoecht and Oliver, plus a couple others that don’t move the needle. Thats not a MASH unit. A MASH unit is what Detroit had last year with over half their starters out including Aidan Hutchinson. Edited 57 minutes ago by SCBills 1 1 Quote

I just don't see a deep playoff run and a ring is a pipe dream even if we miraculously got to the SB. Why would simply missing the playoffs and years of 11-13 wins seasons change much internally? They've been so decimated by injury they have a built in excuse one way or another. It's easy to be frustrated but you only get so many Josh Allen prime seasons. While we don't see it as likely......if they can get in the playoffs and get healthy they still have a punchers chance in the most wide-open league in over a decade. They are going to end up finishing near the top of the NFL offensively and probably middle of the pack defensively when it's all said and done. The average SB team finishes around 7th or 8th in those categories so in aggregate they would be close.........and the Manning/Bob Sanders Colts won a SB against Chicago with the worst run defense in football before so their biggest weakness doesn't statistically exclude them either. I'm not optimistic but I'm not giving up or rooting against a playoff berth for want of a pick number 17-18 or something like that. Quote

A MASH unit is what Detroit had last year with over half their starters out including Aidan Hutchinson. Money tied up into the Captain - TB - while he’s been terrible has it been bc of injury? We were counting on him. Not Shaq Thompson. Milano is nowhere near 100 percent. What if I told you in late August Poyer would be playing for Rapp? Bosa is absolutely playing thru something significant. And the Oliver and Hoecht injuries are catastrophic for us bc the next guys up are Jordan Philips and some guy named Mathis? Now Shaq Lawson is coming back? Bc our 3rd round draft capital Landon Jackson (a pick that could have been used in a trade or for a good draft pick) has been a total bust. In case we forgot, the movie last night reminded us another 3rd round pick someone by the name of Dewayne Carter is a DT on this team out for the year. Along with another pick in Dorian Strong. You’re right. It isn’t a 2024 Lions MASH unit. But bc this D lacks studs it needs most if not all important cogs on the field. Quote

He was never the type of person that had an eye for talent. Therefore, he needs to rely on the guys around him, to really give him the X’s and O’s about player evaluation…👍 I'm starting to think he works for Andy Reid Quote
