This guy's definition is almost correct although his conclusion is wrong. Stagflation is inflation with no or negative economic growth. Unemployment is secondary and still low.

And growth in Q2 is not negative nor are any GDP forecasts for the next several quarters predicting a negative print.

So the contention we are currently in a stagflation environment is invalid.

Our founding fathers loved coffee! It’s the most patriotic beverage there is. Well, after bourbon anyways

Aug 12 (Reuters) - The U.S. government's budget deficit grew nearly 20% in July to $291 billion despite a nearly $21 billion jump in customs duty collections from President Donald Trump's tariffs, with outlays growing faster than receipts, the Treasury Department said on Tuesday. The deficit for July was up 19%, or $47 billion, from July 2024. Receipts for the month grew 2%, or $8 billion, to $338 billion, while outlays jumped 10%, or $56 billion, to $630 billion, a record high for the month.

With so much horrible news, your preferred political party must be experiencing quite an upswing in popularity.

How old do you imagine someone to be that uses the handle “jdhillfan”?

Frankish has declared himself “a fierce independent”. I just took a look at some of your Baskin-era posts. Some of them pre-date Trump. You are no more a republican than Frankish is an independent. It’s laughable.

It’s cute how you purity test people now. Bernie Sanders’ crew would be quite proud.

There’s no point in countenancing liars. You should understand that. Why, you ask?

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/08/14/ppi-inflation-report-july-2025-.html

Wholesale prices rose far more than expected in July, providing a potential deterrent for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates in September, a Bureau of Labor Statistics report Thursday showed.

The producer price index, which measures final demand goods and services prices, jumped 0.9% on the month, compared to the Dow Jones estimate for a 0.2% gain.

Excluding food and energy prices, core PPI rose 0.9% against the estimate for 0.3%. Excluding food, energy and trade, the index was up 0.6%, the biggest gain since March 2022.
