Oh, and the Blue Jays are in Colorado. Come Thursday Boone could definitely be whistling by the graveyard. Cashman and Boone both need to go. If a team ever needed a reset at GM/HC it's the Yankees. 1 Quote

Boones guy, Williams, is a lost cause, can’t be trusted with anything less than a 3-run lead. Bird is a disaster. Bednar was better tonight, but don't know what we really have in him and Doval yet. Weaver and starters all shaky. Two gut punch losses in four games because of the bullpen. They didn’t bounce back from the 1st one and are facing Eovaldi tomorrow I’d expect the same. Judge being hurried back? He’s in there tomorrow. But it’s pitching….. 1 Quote

They traded for 14 crappy relief pitchers and somehow that’s not the stupidest thing they did at the deadline. They got a versatile player who is leading the league in steals, and…………benched him because their game blowing shortstop has an Italian surname. I have to believe that Cashman was giving Boone a hint, but Boone has the lineup card. Caballero should be playing for that team 5 games a week but I think he has started one game. McMahon has solved their 3B defensive issues but created a lineup issue. Caballero doesn’t hit much but can energize things with his speed and is good defensively at multiple positions and…….bench. My best guess is that they find a way to sneak into the WC but they better hope that Texas keeps sputtering or someone on Seattle gets hurt. The Boston ship has sailed. I don’t think Cleveland is a major threat at this point but you never know. 1 Quote

What Devin Williams is going through this year reminds me of what Edwin Diaz went through with the Mets. Diaz looked like a lost cause but managed to rebound. Based on his history - which is much better than Edwin's pre-Mets history - I'm guessing Williams will bounce back too, but it seems unlikely to happen this year. 1 Quote
Gregg Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Nice three game sweep of the Cards. The Yanks are starting to open up some breathing room in the WC race. I don't know if they can catch the Blue Jays but hopefully, they can keep playing good baseball and get into the playoffs. Go Yanks! 2 Quote

Their schedule is tougher the rest of the way, and they've been slipping while the Yankees seem to finally be gaining some steam again. Excited about the home stretch. Gregg Posted August 20 Posted August 20 The Yankees certainly lived up to their name (BRONX BOMBERS) hitting 9 HRs in their 13-3-win last night. 4th win in a row. Let's Go Yankees. 1 Quote
Gregg Posted August 21 Posted August 21 Another win last night although not easy with the Rays tying it in the 9th and forcing extra innings. Anyway 5 in a row and a huge 4 game series with the Sox starting tonight. Let's Go Yankees. 2 Quote
Success Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Last night was brutal - though I guess not unexpected given that the Sox had a night off, and the Yankees played extras and got home close to dawn the night before. They really need to at minimum split this series. Boston should not be beating NY as much as they have been. 1 Quote

Boone must not have liked Caballero providing a spark over the last week or thereabouts so……..to the bench you go…..we have a useless guy with an Italian name that needs to play. El oh el. Quote
Gregg Posted August 25 Posted August 25 So much for that huge 4 game series vs the Sox. At least they didn't get swept but overall, this weekend sucked for the Yanks. Quote

I hate losing to Boston, in all sports. I'm in excuse mode on this one, though. They get the day before the series off, and NY has extra innings and gets home close to dawn (and looked like it in the 4 error 1st game). And I thought until yesterday, the umps were kind of one-sided in Boston's favor. Last night went the Yankees way in terms of the calls. I'm actually feeling pretty good about the home stretch. Getting Cruz back is huge, and makes the BP pretty strong. I don't think they'll need to rely on Doval or Leiter in any high leverage situations now. And Williams has found his groove again pitching before the 9th inning. Given their remaining schedule, I think the Yankees still get the WC1. 1 Quote

This week they should take advantage and stack some wins together. Good start last night with the 10-5 win over the Nationals. 1 Quote
Gregg Posted August 27 Posted August 27 The Yankees are playing this afternoon. As I type this its 11-0 Yankees in the bottom of the 4th. They are in Bronx Bomber mode today hitting lots of HR's this game. Barring a collapse today should complete a sweep of the Nationals. Let's Go Yankees. Quote
SinceThe70s Posted August 27 Posted August 27 @4merper4mer you'll like this one. Volpe made two outs in the Yankees 9 run 3rd inning including striking out with the bases loaded to end the inning. And apparently the boos rained down on him. Can't be too many times in history a home team put up 9 and the inning ended with boos. Quote

Boone is an idiot. Caballero among others give them a better chance but maybe they’ll luck out and play the Nationals every day for the rest of the season. Quote

I remember Yankee talking heads saying he was like Gunnar Henderson. Well a couple of years latter it looks like they were wrong. But never fear, his agent is Scott Boras which means he will be a FA in a few years and could be a Yankee Quote

They SHOULD take care of business against the White Sox this weekend but next week against the Astros and Blue Jays will not be easy. The Yankees will probably make the playoffs but once there they won't be playing any bad teams obviously. They probably are one and done if they make it. I hope I am wrong about that, but they haven't fared all that great against good teams. Quote
Pete Posted August 31 Posted August 31 https://nypost.com/2025/08/30/sports/yankees-squeak-past-white-sox-in-11-innings-as-winning-streak-hits-seven/ Yanks on fire! Winning 7 in a row! Yanks recently tied a record, mashing 33 HR in 10 games! 2 Quote
