Whether he believes what he says or not, he’s a provocateur poking issues with a stick and riling folks like you up. There are people who do that on the left, too. Your problem is you lost independents and folks who look at the policies you support (and likely see as centrist) and rejected the platform in large enough numbers to put Trump in office. You moved a few steps toward the extreme and likely don’t even know it. 1
