The Hamilton 68 “dashboard” was the brainchild of former FBI special agent and MSNBC contributor Clint Watts and operated under the Alliance for Securing Democracy, a think tank founded in 2017 — shortly after former President Trump took office. The problem is when you dig a bit deeper than what the conventional wisdom suggests that “everyone knows this!”, it exposes one to the reality that they may have been manipulated or duped. It’s tough to admit that. In this case, “everyone knows” the Russians wanted Trump and Trump worked with them, and people think they came to that conclusion on their own. Meanwhile, Clinton/DNC conspires with a foreign agent to spread information that directly impacts the election and it doesn’t bother them in the least. IMO, hard-hitting factual political journalism probably never truly existed. There’s likely alway been an element of tilting the scale one way or the other, and that’s before we even deal with the reality that the free press is actually a corporate press often answering to shareholders, managers, owners and advertisers looking to shade things a certain way. One thing is certain—if you went back to 2016 and said “Looking forward, in the next 7 years, the govt will spy on citizens, unmask citizens, violate FISA protocol, send heavily armed officers to raid the homes of political rivals, spend 4 years messing around with a preposterous story about Russians, and have supporters believe tales of slippage when speaking about their leaders are illegally secreting away classified/top secret documents that they literally just declared was a threat to national security”….the tolerant and forward thinking left would have declared Trump would be behind it all.
