Are you losing interest in the NFL ?

NFL has done a great job keeping interest. Most of those playoff games and SB were one score differences. It allowed me to watch games I could care less about the teams but still enjoy.

What is really interesting is a lot of the way you guys describe you reduced interest with the NFL is similar to how I describe my reduced interest in soccer:

 

- too much on TV it takes over the whole week;

- watch Arsenal and other big games but often don't even bother with other live games;

- the over officiating and replay drives me mad, preferred when the refs were crap and we all knew they were crap but we got on with it;

- the game has driven out the fans that made it in many ways with ticket pricing etc

- over commercialisation;

 

But in contrast I consume as much football as ever. I watch the 8 to 10 NFL games in full most weeks of the season.

So in your opinion, soccer ticket prices are too high and it is over commercialized to the point you have reduced interest in the game.  But those things are not true for tackle football???

I started losing interest in the NFL in 2000’s.   Why?  
 

1.   I have an uneasy feeling that Vegas oddsmakers influence the games
2.  Inconsistent officiating and the leagues inability or unwillingness to fix it

3.  Over-Hype and poor quality of TV broadcasts  -  so many games, 3 nights per week, leads to low quality play by play and color commentary on average.  Add in all the talk shows, podcasts, etc.  I tune most of it out.  

4.  My age -  There really is more to life than watching football.  I cut way back from my younger days.

So I think the over commercialised nature of football doesn't stick out to me as much because I have only been watching since 2002 and I don't think it is significantly worse now than it was then and the game still feels newer and fresher. I have been watching soccer since 1990. My interest has only waned in the last 3 or 4 years. Maybe give it another 12 years I will feel the same about football. 

 

As for ticket prices, they don't affect me because I like in the UK and don't go to games. 

 

That was kind of my point. I don't have the same feelings some of you do about football, but my experience of football is very different. I do have similar feelings about soccer where my experience probably more closely resembles the experience you have with football.
