Covid 19 vs Trump

@SoTier, serious question: do the constant virtue-signaling and reminders of the death toll make you feel better?

I started this thread to remind people of the cost in human terms of Donald J Trump's politicization of the pandemic because dumbass Covid Donnie stupidly thought it would only hit blue states and big cities because it hit New York and Washington State first, and then moved on to the rest of the Northeast.   The 225+k deaths are only the tip of the iceberg on human costs, however.  Tens of thousands of Americans have suffered long term physical and neurological effects from Covid-19.   We still don't know how many will be permanently disabled by it and how many may recover eventually.  Tens of thousands American families have been hit with huge medical bills for family members who had severe cases of Covid-19 and landed in the hospital for weeks or months.  The average Covid-19 hospitalization with complications costs about $20k more than health insurance generally covers.   Millions of Americans have lost their jobs or their businesses, all of the state governments are facing huge deficits because of the costs of dealing with the pandemic amid cratering tax revenues, and entire industries like live entertainment and travel and tourism have been devastated.  Meanwhile, Covid Donnie continues to claim Covid-19 is no big deal and that "we're turning the corner" while more Americans suffer.

If you don't wish to be reminded of the cost of Covid Donnie's actions, don't read this thread.

Demented and evil.  Any ignorant ****head can get elected POTUS because if you put enough lipstick on a pig, enough fools will mistake it for a pretty girl to want to dance with it.   Serious crises separates the pigs from the pretty girls.  A sane individual sitting in the Oval Office amid a pandemic, even if he were a pig with lots of make-up, would have sense enough to defer to and follow the lead of the public health experts.  He would care about the American people and the American nation enough to "do the right thing".  Many of us have seen in our own lifetimes that even reprehensible politicians like Richard Nixon can suck it up and "do the right thing".  All of us have seen a POTUS respond to crises the way we expect our presidents to respond: George W Bush rallied the country after the 9/11 attacks and then in 2008, he acted swiftly and brought Dems and Republicans together to prevent economic collapse.

I've said this before and I'll repeat it.  He's a sociopath at best.  Nobody and nothing matters to Trump except his personal gratification.  He could be much worse.  His embrace of Qanon and other conspiracy theories might be either a result or a cause of what appears to be paranoia.   He seems to be out of touch with reality.  He cannot seem to separate fact from fiction.  He seems to inhabit an alternative universe.   He's Nero fiddling while Rome burns.

Trump also seems to suffer from delusions that he's this all powerful, all knowing being who can do no wrong.  He thinks that everybody loves him and agrees with him.  He wants to be Vladimir Putin but he's more like Idi Amin or Pol Pot, willing to sacrifice millions for his self gratification.

I think all Bills fans can relate to this.  We've spent so many years waiting for the Bills to really "turn it around" and when they finally look to have done, we can't really be a part of it as fans. Football translates great to TV, but it's a poor substitute for the comaraderie of tailgaiting before the game and actually being there and cheering the Bills on to wins, especially after not have much to really cheer about for so long.

You left out the biggest story.

Trump is evil and unbelievably stupid, but he should have never been more than a 5% candidate.

The fact that about 40% of Americans back him is the most frightening part of the story.

I used to believe that America was better insulated than almost every other country when it came to avoiding a dictator.

As a nation, we are as stupid and evil as any other nation.

This says significantly more about you than it does about Trump or America. FYI.

Anyone see Trump's Giant Healthcare book that was just blank pages....

Identical to his Covid plan and his Infrastructure plan.

Everything is just around the corner and never arrives and Trump supporters continue to believe what he says. Simpletons, one and all.
