How bad are we making our receivers look???

So ya...we dont have great receivers.  But how bad are they.

Robert woods.  Solidly average here.  Great elsewhere.

Goodwin.  Below average here.  Good elsewhere.

Hogan is about the same but slightly better.

Jordan Mathews was a 70 catch 900 yard guy for philly.  Terrible here.

Benjamin. Had some pretty damn good years statistically with cam.  Terrible here.

Pryor had a 1000 yard season.  Let's see what happens here.

Zay Jones has the NCAA record for catches.   Couldn't catch a cold here.

We can complain about the weapons but you put Jones Benjamin, clay, mccoy and Pryor with aarod and it might be his best lineup he's had.  Food for thought.

You are forgetting Watkins and I know why.  So do you.  Hogan was never a starter here and when he was he averaged more catches and yards per start here.  Woods is obviously better in LA but not that much better.  This might be his best year to date.   Goodwin might be the strongest and only decent case of someone going somewhere else and being remarkably better.  That said it's the first time he stayed healthy, didn't spend all his time trying to make the olympics, and was a full time starter.  In his first 3 seasons he played in less than half the games.

I interpret you to be saying that our pass catchers would probably look (and perform) a lot better if we had an elite passer under centre.

Sure  Arod and a good OC could transform this receiving corps such that it would be unrecognizable. Not saying that they would be great, the top shelf talent is not there, there would still be drops, but the passing game would have to be taken very seriously by the opposition as a threat (rather than as an opportunity).

Ok.  So Watkins will likely be a pro bowler this year.  Just saying.

Also how do you explain how pathetic KB has been since he's been here?

Heck throw kerley in there.  He's consistently a 50 catch guy.  Comes here and cant get 1 ball a game.

My point is as stated above.  This lineup of WRs isnt great but they are made awful by the QBs we have.  We better draft a WR because there is no way in hell a FA will come here.   See John Brown post.

A successful passing game is 90% QB, 10% receiver.

Lots of folks around here don't get that.

Oh sure. Playcalling, OFFENSIVE LINEMEN, running game, it has got nothing to do with it. It's 90% the QB...

And star WRs are just glorified fantasy stat hoarders thanks to their QBs, right?

Hey, I agree the QB is the most important part. But football is a team game. Let's not disrespect the process... that all teams use. Nor the big guys - the game is won in the trenches as the saying goes.
