Clearly they're worried about the DACAs and not about playing petty partisan politics.

So you have just bought Trump's slight of hand hook line and sinker. You seem like one of those buck tooth dolts Trump would trick into enrolling in his Trump University scam. Ya, you probably have a Trump U sticker on your car. Duh!

Dems are being just plain stupid on this.  Right in front of them is a chance to get legal status for nearly a million people for which they've been supporting.  All they have to do is agree to some border security measures and immigration reforms which are no brainers.  Trump has thrown that compromise right at their feet.

In their (dems) minds they really would rather be able to claim that the Republicans are preventing a DACA deal than actually have one. In addition they want to prevent any appearance of a wall being built. Chain migration is in their best interest too. Trump needs to loudly state over and over that he will gladly sign a DACA deal if he gets his wall and an end to chain migration and the lottery.

No, pretending it had to be ended was what the problem is. The Pro-life zealots are pushing to get these poor kids thrown out of the country. Sickening people. Pretending they care about life. You pettifogging for them shameful. What's wrong with you?

What's wrong with you, refusing them the legal right to residency?

No, they want to make sure a Democrat gets the credit.  How !@#$ed would their entire narrative of the Trump administration be if he gets credit for DACA legislation?

Of course they want credit if a deal is done but their mo has always been to call the republicans whatever it takes, so if a deal doesn't get done that serves their purpose too, as long as they can make it stick to the republicans.

They'll counter with we already put bipartisan legislation in front of you to make a DACA deal and you refused despite saying at a televised meeting (a mistake by Trump in hindsight) that you'll sign any legislative solution to protect DACA aliens that crosses your desk.  He also said, "I'll take the heat for it."  Democratic senators are already playing that clip across the internet and saying their using the DACA "kids" as political leverage.  The American people are dumb when it comes to politics so they'll fall for it.  It's frustrating to continue to support these people just because I agree with their economic policies and their commitment to worker unions who donate to their campaigns.

But if it gets done and they participate they can take credit.  The media will be happy to report that after decades of pressure and hard work by Democrats, Republicans and a Republican President finally caved in to the overwhelming moral public and political pressure.

When President Trump spoke by phone with Sen. Richard J. Durbin around 10:15 a.m. last Thursday, he expressed pleasure with Durbin’s outline of a bipartisan immigration pact and praised the high-ranking Illinois Democrat’s efforts, according to White House officials and congressional aides.

The president then asked if Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.), his onetime foe turned ally, was on board, which Durbin affirmed. Trump invited the lawmakers to visit with him at noon, the people familiar with the call said.

But when they arrived at the Oval Office, the two senators were surprised to find that Trump was far from ready to finalize the agreement. He was “fired up” and surrounded by hard-line conservatives such as Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), who seemed confident that the president was now aligned with them, according to one person with knowledge of the meeting.

Trump told the group he wasn’t interested in the terms of the bipartisan deal that Durbin and Graham had been putting together. And as he shrugged off suggestions from Durbin and others, the president called nations from Africa “shithole countries,” denigrated Haiti and grew angry. The meeting was short, tense and often dominated by loud cross-talk and swearing, according to Republicans and Democrats familiar with the meeting.

The Republicans should just pass the bill on DACA, why are they holding these people hostage? There is enough votes in the Senate to pass, just hold a vote..

Why are the Democrats holding the country hostage by threatening to shut down the government to protect illegal aliens?

That or - more likely - they're just looking to score political points without actually giving a **** what happens to the DACAs.

If no one cares, then they should just pass an extension.

Oh that's right, the pro-life crowd hates the life of immigrants, so they hold them hostage.

I've read your **** over the years and it doesn't seem possible that I could ever be surprised by your complete ignorance but this one is right up there with your most retarded utterances. It is amazing that you not only are devoid of any comprehension of reality but revel in your total ignorance and vile stupidity.

“I’m looking for something that President Trump supports, and he has not yet indicated what measure he is willing to sign,” McConnell said. “As soon as we figure out what he is for, then I would be convinced that we were not just spinning our wheels.” They will vote on a DACA fix “as soon as we figure out what he is for,” McConnell added.

 So much for blaming Democrats

Should the title of this thread be changed?

Early Thursday, some Republicans signaled that their patience with the president was wearing thin.

“We don’t have a reliable partner at the White House to negotiate with,” Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) said as he walked into the Capitol.

“This has turned into an s---show for no good reason and the only way out of this thing is to grow up a little bit — and I think that’s going to happen,” he said.
