Hammersharts in Vegas!

Recommended Posts

We got here at around noon today, and it is soooooo freaking hot. Yeah, I know it's the desert. 108 degrees. Holy crap. Went to lunch at this cafe in the casino downstairs because my wife was too tired to walk anywhere. I took a walk down to the marijuana dispensary. Wow. Never experienced anything like that before. They had a line about 50 feet long going out the door and down the street. It smells like weed everywhere around here. There was even a group of guys smoking a huge doober right near the front door of the casino. Anyway, there was a menu of like 30-40 different strains of weed. All with specific descriptions of the type of buzz, flavor, THC content and other stuff. The cute young "budtender" helped me pick out a gram of "Lemon OG" and I also got a peanut butter cookie. It was a neat experience anyway.

Went to Walgreens and stocked up on booze for the room. Came back to the casino and sat down at the Let it Ride table for a couple hours. Hit a few hands including a flush and a couple 3 of a kinds. I think I'm up a few hundred. Came back to the room and the wife was pissed. She woke up from her nap and both the AC and the toilet are not working properly. Waiting on the repair guy, but I think I'm just going to ask for a new room. This place is nuts. I guess I'm most surprised at how many kids are here. Didn't think it was really such family vacation destination. With people stumbling around hammered all day and all. Anyway, thanks all for the tips.

I'm jealous. I usually leave there saying "OK, I've had enough of that, on to other places." But there's no other place like that!

The heat is crazy and people say "oh, but there's no humidity!" Well, there's no humidity in the oven with the Thanksgiving turkey either, and that's what it feels like. My first trip there was from Florida. I didn't know 4% humidity was possible on this planet. I found myself holding my breath going down the side walk waiting to get to the next hotel mister.

Have a BLAST!

Just flew back from 3 nights in LA and then 3 nights in Vegas. Had an incredible time - and I was someone who brought my kids - 16 and 13. Had a blast. Stayed at Caesars. Rented a Cabana one day. Went to Criss Angel one night at Luxor. Just explored the other days. Have been to Vegas 9 times. Have a blast!

Thanks everyone! Any suggestions on favorite sportsbooks? I need to put some money on the Bills to win the Super Bowl, and I'm thinking about throwing some money down on McGregor for the heck of it. Also, is weed really legal for recreational use/sale there? I've seen conflicting information on the internet. Not a big weed guy anymore, but I might take advantage for the Cirque Du Soliel show if it's available. Not willing to buy off the streets though.

I like Emerel's sportsbook "Legasee stadium" at the Palazzo. It's really just like a giant sports bar that happens to have a book in it. I feel like less of a degenerate in there as opposed to most of the other places where I'm in a dark lit room with sheets all over the floor as I sit drinking by myself, making handwritten notes about random sporting events.

I mentioned it earlier but there is a hot waitress there from Buffalo (or at least there was a few months ago).

is that the hot girl? She was a smoke show. She noticed my Sabres hat and struck up a conversation. I'm a fan

That's a good story that I need to see more details/pics but I thought it was you talking about your dog the other day. I get lost in these threads at times.

Briley, that's my dog. She's feeling better. I'm not sure what she got into but she's back to her alpha self :).

Very happy Briley is doing better! If you're not a dog person, you just can't comprehend what a big deal that is. GREAT NEWS!

A trip to the vet and an eye on her diet and she is better. She honestly runs our world so I feel better. That's my angel.

Need more info on smokin Sabres fan

I don't know much. I was there opening day of hockey season and just started taking to her. She noticed my hat and started talking. She was Vegas hot not just Buffalo hot. A Vegas 8.5 and a Buffalo 14.

Gracie is my soon to be 7 year old Golden Retriever (my 6th!) and she's the heart of our household.

You know how it is. I woke up to the grossest thing that I've ever seen. I was nervous but she's good now. Dogs are the best

How old is she? My Goldens have only lasted from 8-13 years. They tend to get cancer. Each got a tumor somewhere and went quickly downhill. We did go to a really high end breeder for Gracie (ironically just north of our home in Atlanta when we still lived in FL), so we're hoping for better luck.

But to get this back on track, what does Briley think of the over/under on wins for the Bills this year?

She's 7 to 9 (but we think 7). She wears her Bills collar at all times. She wears a dress and is as girlie as can be (or girls as I can make her) but she's a Bills fan first. She has them a game better than me, 9-7.
