History Repeats Itself -- and it's confusing

yep, we are talking about mario's attitude which is a byproduct of a moron named rex ryan who ruined an all star.

yep, it's all about mario.

what has rex done?

what was it the byproduct of when he pulled the same shenanigans four years ago with a different team/coach?

mario should be ashamed of himself for how he played. he's a 30 year old millionaire. if you're certain he needed a coach to make him do...anything...then you're fully acknowledging the fact that he's a child.

blablabla

rex should give up coaching and be ashamed of himself. he's a millionaire and i'm too lazy to care to google his age. but he is a liar. he tinkered with the defense he said he wouldn't. he should be able to coach and work with players and recognize that players would not be giving effort...and if you're fully acknowledging the fact then you're realizing rex has no balls.

http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/53830/mike-pettines-dilemma-3-4-or-4-3-defense

This article details how the 4-3 failed under Wannstedt and discusses Pettines options when he was hired. It then states how Mario Williams was unhappy in a 3-4 defense in Houston and that the defense should tailor towards him who was our best defensive player at the time. That being said Mike Pettine chose to run a 4-3 under taken from Ryan (often mislabeled a 3-4) and the defense was effective in it. Schwartz came the following year with a wide 9 4-3 and the defense was still good. Rex Ryan implements a 4-3 under and the defense wasn't impressive and then he is blamed for a bad scheme.

Who knows what the answer is? For me Rex Ryan's 4-3 under still utilizes the 4 defensive linemen and then another linebacker next to them. I have no idea why this didn't work.

The easy answer is the defense wasn't that good under pettine. They had a bunch of sacks, probably because pettine had the front guys doing more penetration and less gap control, but they were abysmal vs the run. And 20th in points allowed, in my mind the only defensive metric that matters.

Schwaz's scheme and that roster fit like a glove and produced a top 5 defense. Maybe it was dumb luck for shwarz that the front 7 were perfect for his scheme, but you can believe this... Wrecks felided the worst defense since wanstache, is entirely responsible and better ask fir the right guys or fix the scheme...

I have and continue to happily concede the areas where the team suffered because of Rex's short comings.

How you can watch what Mario did (or rather did not) in the latter part of the season and objectively decide the coach is to blame is inexplicable.

Worst D since Wannstedt but better than Pettine's in PPG ("only defensive metric that matters")?

Our D was worse than last year, but certainly better than people give it credit for. But that isn't popular right now because Rex is a guy that a person can just love to hate.

Mario may be a scapegoat but it is by his own doing.

Coaches are supposed to manage egos and bring out the best in their players. Boom.

How this even debatable by now is just befuddling.

we are proving a point. if rex was truly a worthy coach and not just a filibustering smooth talking dumbass he'd have pulled mario.

he didn't. so what do we really know here? the eye test and quotes say mario underperformed and did not give an effort. are we all better than rex? does he know something we don't? maybe

do we know something rex doesn't? yes. that he is an idiot and a liar.

The Bills linebackers suck. That is the essence of the problem. They have been awful for a decade. One gap and penetration with the Bills front, and man to man on the outside is how they should have played. Create havoc up front and be willing to get beat on screens and runs up the middle from time to time.

If they are going to play two gap then they need an entirely new set of LB's that can flow to the ball, make tackles (Bradham was awful in space), and blitz. And they need a SS that can play near the line of scrimmage the size of Chancellor.

I love how we've framed the injuries as if they had no impact on anything in 2015 and that getting anyone to budge from that point has proved entirely fruitless.

wait, we're talking about mario.

mario was injured? is that why he was awful? what does the rest of the defense having injuries have to do with one little tiny bit of morsel of truth that ryan is in charge of the team and left mario out to pasture 60 mintues a week?

Marrone was a much better HC than Rex.

indeed.

rex ryan is a better football mind, it seems history indicates but he is not a good head coach. a head coach is 1/2 football 1/2 CEO. there is attention to detail and discipline. rex ryan is at least two feet beneath marrone on these things.

The game in which Aaron Williams got hurt was a game that Rex had already blown with his stupid defensive system. How would Aaron Williams staying healthy have smartened up dumb Rex? The team was healthy in game 2, but it only took two games for the league to figure out that Rex had screwed our pooch.

Cuz. Rex. Sux.

Well that's an insanely inaccurate oversimplification, but whatever helps make your point, I guess.
