If it is a second round guy I'd take Hackenburg. I really would. As many bonehead plays as I see him make I think the ability to stand in, go through progressions and make throws is there. I'd even consider trading up within the second round to nab him. Let Tyrod start next year, sit him and work with him don't feel tempted to throw him in and then see how things develop.

What not to like? Takes a lot of nasty hits (like TYrod) and is comparable to Ryan FannyHill.

A couple of things

- TT doesnt take a lot of nasty hits...its actually one of his strengths

- Being compared to Ryan Tannyhill is not a bad thing.....as badly as he plays against us the guy seems to ball against other teams.

Yeah I was thinking about Hackenburg as well......his stock seems to have really dropped because he stayed in school

I think I should not that I am not looking for a immediate replacement to TT.....we need a backup guy that we can develop while Tyrod runs this team for the forseeable future but we could trot out there if Tyrod gets dinged up.

People keep saying this. It isn't true. He is worse against us than against other teams this is true. But he is still bang darn average.

How do you overdraft the most important position?

By taking a guy who is limited in the 1st or 2nd round. Those round are for guy you believe can be elite players either immediately or with a small amount of refinement.

Serious question: haven't you (or others) said repeatedly that EJ was overdrafted?

I don't recall.

And those "elite" players get you nowhere but crowned paper champs.

See above. This team would've been better off taking Tanny over Dareus.

I am confused....

Are you saying that we SHOULD have taken Tanny over Marcel.....or that by my definition that is what we should have done

Marcel was a blue chip player in that draft...that was absolutely the correct call.

This is wrong for a few different reasons.

First of all Dareus was not the same year as Tannehill. The year he went we picked after Miami and took Gilmore. Secondly since Tanny went to Miami only one of the two teams has had a winning season. Here is a clue - it wasn't the Miami Dolphins.

Now if you want to argue we'd have been better taking a Quarterback every year of the noughties instead of the succession is stupid first round picks we made then be my guest. But the likes of Marcel and Stephon are players you don't pass up for Quarterbacks you have 2nd and 3rd round grades on.

I know that Dareus and Tanny were not in the same draft. But Dalton was too easy.

See above. Also, the Bills would've made the playoffs the last 2 or 3 years with Tannehill as their QB.

Are correct calls the ones that get us nowhere?

Wrong again. The Bills would not be the same team if they had drafted Tanny. He has led a talented Dolphins team, though not as talented as Buffalo, nowhere. If we had drafted Tanny, we'd be looking to draft a QB early this year IMO.

Edit:  Also, you were clearly mistaken on the years Tanny and Dareus were drafted. I would have liked Dalton though.

I assure you, I wasn't.

The Bills in 2014 wouldn't have made the playoffs with 2014 Tanny? That's crazy.

No. Crazy is assuming all things would have remained the same, rosterwise, if we would have drafted Tanny.

The Bills also should have drafted Rodgers over Lynch. Amirite?!?

I know you're just pushing the "butterfly effect," so I'll just ignore that futility.

Let's do Dalton over Dareus. Do we have have more success?

We should have taken Dareus. We should have taken Dalton over Aaron though.
