These events occurred during Obama's second term so we can't use the "It's Bush's Fault". It's a tired narrative that the great unwashed masses won't accept anymore. Another narrative that's gotten stale is the whole if you disagree with Obama then you must be Racist®. So we need a new narrative: People who don't support Obama are secretly yearning for our own dictator. The editing and music choice seem like odd choices, considering what's happening in the video, but it does show how Russia is trying to promote the war within their own borders. Actually, it sounds a lot stupider than it is. Having two different parties operating completely separate campaigns in a single theater is a recipe for disaster. You need some measure of unity of command...and the US and Russia aren't agreeing to any coordination at any level any time soon. So coming from Dunford, who's purview is less foreign policy than it is military operations, that makes sense. If this "choose a power bloc" statement had come out of the State Department, I'd be saying "The 80's called, they want their foreign policy back."
