Sen. Robert Menendez indicted

Recommended Posts

What Obama is not, is a communist, a socialist, a Muslim, an Atheist, or an anti-colonialist - he is totally a corporatist tool and wall street shill where do you think his money came from?

You're dead wrong on many of those, especially the ludicrous assertion that he's a corporatist. Just because many companies donated to him to hedge their bets doesn't mean that he's a friend of private enterprise. If you knew more about subjects than what you learn from YouTube videos, then maybe you would have a clue.

But isn't a "corporatist" someone who completely ignores bankruptcy law and !@#$s over corporate ownership for the benefit of labor unions?

Obama has pushed TPP harder than any other legislation, he give speeches about Jamie Dimon that sound like love letters, his justice department has zero criminal cases against banks CEOs even though they were involved in LIBOR manipulation, FOREX manipulation, predatory loans, money laundering, etc etc- his give away to the insurance companies and pharmaceutical industry - He let Summers and Geithner weaken the Volcker rule to almost nothing = corporatist tool

And he also knows that to keep the welfare state going, keep the economy running and to have a solid tax base we Liberals need corporations, The Goose that lays the golden egg. Corporations are our servants, the make the stuff we buy, create the jobs and pay the bills. Going hard against corporate America just makes no sense

That's quite the laundry list of the uninformed. Obama gives a few token speeches a year throwing a bone at private enterprise, while his real actions keep the economy in perpetual neutral. Figures Youtube University graduates think that passes for being a corporatist.

TPP is about 5 years late in passing, and tell me exactly how the US would benefit without its passage? Will the US become a major manufacturing hub again? What was he doing while the unions shut down the western ports for over a year? Howe's he helping out the energy sector? Exactly what handouts did he give to pharma? Or was it basically a mobsterish offer they couldn't refuse to go along with Obamacare?

It's been clear you don't understand financial markets or how to properly regulate global financial moves. If you were smart, you may recognize that the reason criminal charges haven't been brought by the most overzealously political AG in generations is because no laws were broken, no matter how unseemly the traders' behavior was. You may also have noted that virtually every case that actually went to trial went in favor of the industry. You should be applauding Holder for his tens of billions in shakedown cash from the financial institutions without the going through trouble of trials where he would handily lose.

For one speech talking nice about Dimon, you have the unaccountable Consumer Financial Protection bureau that does nothing but looking for more protection fees. On the other side of being nice nice to Immelt, you have GE breaking apart what was a core part of its company.

If you are so learned, tell me exactly where Fidelity and Vanguard pose a threat to the global financial stability, and tell me in exactly which spot the next crisis would hit? If you think that tougher Dodd Frank rules would catch them, you're a bigger idiot than I give you credit for.

Here's a pretty reasonable overview of why you can't contain the gas that is global finance.

But, but, they've got more money than regular people do. That can't be right. They're "public" companies after all. So, it's the people's money - right? Give us our fair share of their money! [thegreatunwashed]

After two and a half years of ridiculous Menendez/democrat delays......... we are off !

The bribery trial of New Jersey Democrat U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez is under way, and the judge has already had to slap down the defense:

A few minutes into the Menendez trial, the judge told a Menendez lawyer to "shut up." This is going to be interesting

In recent weeks the defense lobbied the court to recess the trial to allow Sen. Menendez to return to the Senate for votes, and federal prosecutors torched that request.
