HailMary
Since 2009 there are just as many starting QBs today drafted outside Round 1. Statistically odds are against Round 1 QBs. Bottom line, without the first overall pick we're more likely to find a starting QB outside the first round. 2009 1.1 Matt Stafford 1.5 Mark Sanchez 1.17 Josh Freeman 2010 1.1 Sam Bradford 1.25 Tim Tebow 2011 1.1 Cam Newton 1.8 Jake Locker 1.10 Blaine Gabbert 1.12 Christian Ponder Current Starters drafted outside Round 1 in 2011 2.3 Andy Dalton 2.4 Colin Kaepernick 2012 1.1 Andrew Luck 1.2 RGIII 1.8 Ryan Tannehill 1.22 Brandon Weedon Current Starters drafted outside Round 1 in 2012 3.12 Russel Wilson 3.25 Nick Foles 4.7 Kirk Cousins 2013 1.16 EJ Manual Current Starters drafted outside Round 1 in 2013 2.7 Geno Smith 3.11 Mike Glennon Verdict still out on 2014. fridge
What does the bold indicate? In other words, why did you lump Tannehill with Luck, Netwon or Stafford?

IronyAbounds
I think the only squad Bradford is starting for is the Mayo Clinic city league team. And wow, I had forgotten that Tebow was a 1st round pick. Boy, what a dumb pick that was.
YoloinOhio
If RG3 isn't listed as a starter, Bradford shouldn't be either. Both are injured; neither were benched.
jletha
Something to think about for people thinking we screwed ourselves out of a franchise QB because we dont have a 1st rounder next year: Denver, KC, NE, New Orleans, Philly, Seattle, Cincy, San Fran. all made the playoffs last year with QBs they did not draft in the first round. Obviously Manning isnt going to become a FA again but it just goes to show QBs can be found in a number of ways Edited September 30, 2014 by jletha
YoloinOhio
Also, if you go back a bit further, Joe Flacco was a 2nd rounder who went to the playoffs each of his 1st 3 yrs and then won a SB. Matt Schaub was a 3rd rd pick who took Houston to the playoffs. Unfortunately, my confidence level that they can pick the right one, regardless of which round, is not high at the moment. Rob's House
And wow, I had forgotten that Tebow was a 1st round pick. Boy, what a dumb pick that was. Eh, they got a playoff appearance, a playoff win, & then a 4th out of him. I've seen worse.
