Supposedly there is a new movie out The Koch Brothers exposed 2014....our local environemtal morons are trying to get as many locals as possible to there environmental task force office to view this movie. Anyone have a chance to see it?

Here is a few comments from the enviros webpage...........

"The film starts out with a section on the FIGHT TO SAVE PUBLIC EDUCATION--we know all about that here in Chicago. BUT who knew that the KOCH BROTHERS have spent MILLIONS on UNDOING DEMOCRATIC REPRESENTATION ON LOCAL SCHOOL BOARDS SO WE CAN RETURN TO SEGREGATED SCHOOLS, where children LOSE the ability to LEARN at an equal pace AND TO LEARN FROM EACH OTHER!!"

" FILM ALSO SHOWS: Another issue KOCH BROTHERS are funding with MILLIONS OF DOLLARS is the FIGHT AGAINST THE MINIMUM WAGE. ...THAT'S RIGHT...AGAINST IT...I MEAN TO GET RID OF THE MINIMUM WAGE REQUIREMENT AT ALL. FOR YEARS I DID BUDGETS FOR LOW-INCOME BANKRUPTCY CLIENTS...on what people make on minimum wage you can hardly afford more than a MONTHLY: $450 in rent; $350 for a car payment, $50 for car insurance, $50 for clothes (no matter how many people in the family) no more than $50 for phones; no more than $75 for medical and then you have about $400 left for food (for how many people?'

I think it's on my list to watch right after Michael Moore's and Al Gore's fictional movies.

http://www.washingto...o-college-fund/

The billionaire industrialist Koch brothers, known best for shepherding big money to conservative causes and candidates, have given a $25 million grant to the United Negro College Fund, the organization announced Friday.

The money will come from Koch Industries Inc. and the Charles Koch Foundation, which are headed by the brothers. Most of the money ($18.5 million) will go toward a scholarship program. The other $6.5 million is provided for general support to historically black colleges and universities and the UNCF, $4 million of which will be set aside for loan assistance.

The UNCF is the nation's largest minority education group.

Such a highly-publicized gift is unusual for Charles Koch. His foundation routinely gives away lots of money, but typically with little fanfare.

"Increasing well-being by helping people improve their lives has long been our focus," Charles Koch said in a statement.

Even "The Onion" wouldn't go this far:

The Koch brothers are at it again. Their right-wing political Panzer Division descended on a New York City hospital over the weekend to protest (!) the addition of a new ambulatory care center. What the hell, Koch bros? Why notpro-America?

Sorry. That’s not quite right. In fact, it was the New York State Nurses’ Association, the NAACP New York State Conference, and SEIU Local 1199, among others, who marched on the soon-to-be-built David H. Koch Center at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, which was funded in part by a $100 million donation from the man one prominent liberal recently predicted would go down in history as a “famously evil person.”

The donation was the largest in the hospital’s history, and will presumably create a fair number of new nursing jobs. So why are the usual suspects up in arms? Well, the agitators were apparently agitated because this particular hospital didn’t need all the money. Oh yeah, and because it was International Women’s Day, and the Kochs are the primary funders of the “war on women’s reproductive rights … and many other issues of concern to American women.” They’re also behind “the effort to defeat and repeal healthcare to all Americans,” whatever that means.

Ben Kallos, the local New York City Council representative, was on hand to shout compelling applause lines such as........

The fight petcoke Chicago page is run by SOAR (steelworkers organization of active retirees).

Most of their networking and fear mongering is done on facebook. They take pictures and post them. They are also attacking the railroad industry because they reactivated a rail line to move petcoke by rail cars. The biggest villains of them all though are the evil Koch Brothers. These people are really nuts.

And possibly funded by George Soros or Tom Steyer. Because you know, billionaire political activists with an agenda and deep pockets are only evil if they're not politically correct

I knew I stayed out of PPP for a reason. You guys think bought politicians are good? Because that is what you are endorsing when you "like" the Koch brothers.

If that's what you got from this thread than you're better off not participating in PPP.

You should educate yourself. Being a blind dumbass doesn't work here:

http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2014/02/evil-koch-brothers-rank-59-in-political-donations-behind-18-different-unions/

This week Senate Democrats once again asked the IRS to crack down on conservative groups including Americans for Prosperity, funded by the billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch.

Democrats want to silence the opposition.

So how big of a threat are the Koch Brothers?

Over the past twenty five years, from 1989 to 2014, Koch Industries has donated$18,083,948 in political contributions to Republicans. While that seems like a large sum, it only ranks them as number 59 on the list of top all-time political donors – behind 18 different unions.

Here is the list of unions that top the Koch Brothers in political donations.

Via Open Secrets:

2.) American Fedn of State, County & Municipal Employees $60,667,379

4.) National Education Assn $53,594,488

7.) Intl Brotherhood of Electrical Workers $44,478,789

8.) United Auto Workers $41,667,858

9.) Carpenters & Joiners Union $39,260,371

10.) Service Employees International Union $38,395,690

11.) Laborers Union $37,494,010

12.) American Federation of Teachers $36,713,325

13.) Communications Workers of America $36,188,135

14.) Teamsters Union $36,123,209

16.) United Food & Commercial Workers Union $33,756,550

20.) Machinists & Aerospace Workers Union $31,313,097

23.) AFL-CIO $30,938,977

32.) National Assn of Letter Carriers $26,106,359

39.) Plumbers & Pipefitters Union $23,886,248

43.) International Assn of Fire Fighters $22,963,260

You don't understand the slight of hand there, do you? Do you know why that is so misleading?

If you had anything, you would have stated why it was so misleading.

I knew you nor any of the other right wing ninnies that infest this board could figure out that:

1: Those are just donations to political parties. If you paid any attention at all to what they were doing you would know they finance right wing "think" tanks, really just propaganda spewing factories that billow out lies people like B-Man cut and paste on here. They also finance attack ads and do not have to disclose who they are, so how much they actually spent is only known to them.

2) These are two friggin guys. You put them against unions which are groups of people. You could not possible see the problem there but intelligent people will.

3) I'm cool

They're so evil:

http://kochfamilyfoundations.org/FoundationsDHK.asp

A long-time philanthropist, Mr. Koch has given generously to a variety of organizations and programs. In his lifetime, he and the David H. Koch Charitable Foundation have pledged or contributed more than $1.2 billion to cancer research, medical centers, educational institutions, arts and cultural institutions, and to assist public policy organizations.

Medical & Cancer Research

A prostate cancer survivor, Mr. Koch has donated $100 million as prime contributor for the David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT. Other pledges and contributions for medical and cancer research includes:

  • $100 million to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital to help build the David H. Koch Center, a new ambulatory care center, plus $28 million to other research causes
  • $20 million to Johns Hopkins University for the David H. Koch Cancer Research Center
  • $66.7 million to support cancer research at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City
  • $26.5 million to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for the David H. Koch Center for Applied Research of Genitourinary Cancers and other causes
  • $26.2 million to The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City for the 'Building on Success' campaign and other causes
  • $10 million to Jaffe Food Allergy Institute at the Mount Sinai Medical Center to create the David H. and Julia Koch Research Program in Food Allergy Therapeutics

In 2011, Mr. Koch received the Humanitarian of the Year award from the American Apparel and Footwear Association for his long-standing support of organizations working to find a cure for prostate cancer. The awards gala raised more than $1.1 million for the Prostate Cancer Foundation. In 2007, he was honored with the Double Helix Medal for Corporate Leadership from Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory for supporting research that, “improves the health of people everywhere.”

Education & Science

Mr. Koch supports science-related projects including funding the long-running PBS documentary series, “Nova,” and a science and technology center at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts.

A $35 million pledge to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History will renovate the dinosaur hall, which will be named after him. Once renovated, the hall will showcase the museum's unrivaled collection of 46 million fossils, including one of the largest and most complete T. rex specimens in the world. His $15 million gift to the museum created the David H. Koch Hall of Human Origins that opened in 2010. The 15,000-square-foot exhibit helps answer the question, “What does it mean to be human?“
