So the next coach.....

As a Bears fan, you'd be lucky to land Lovie. He's nowhere near what Jauron was. I'm totally sorry to see Lovie go and I know a lot of other Bears fans that feel the same. Stop listening to the meatheads. Instead of getting rid of Lovie, they should have fired an inept Mike Tice and cut every offensive lineman on the team.

To your point:

Wrong. Cousins is much smarter, has incredible pocket presence and can throw on the run.

did you see cousins play in college? hoo boy. he is a perennial top flite backup- the skins made a good move.

We need a head coach who has been a winner in the NFL. I see Chip Kelly failing after two years and running back to college ball. It is time to open up the check book and sign a real proven NFL coach. I don't want more offensive and defensive coordinators who have never been a Head NFL coach (Grimm, Gruden,, Horton etc. We need a real NFL coach that is going to get the fans excited to buy season tickets. Gailey, Malarkey, Jauron, Williams were all second tier coaching candidates that failed. I also don't trust Buddy Nix to pick the next head coach. He tried and failed and is mad that Gailey was fired. You can stick continuity up his ass. We need a coach who can coach on game day and recruit top assistant coaches. My top three are 1. Cowher, 2. Jon Gruden, 3. Jimmy Johnson

gruden just announced he is remaining at ESPN and will not be coaching again.

jimmy johnson quit on the dolphins, no thanks.

cowher is not realistic.

what is wrong with a promising college coach given some time to learn and adapt to the NFL?

trust me you dont want lovie. he is a better version of dick jauron. cover 2 conervative approach. ask bears fans

bears fans have been organizing a lovie lynch mob for years. they have no idea what they are asking for- just taking their frustrations out. the real issue with the bears was their former GM. the bears didn't draft until the third round in '09 and '10 because of the cutler trade.

the Cutler trade was one of the best moves Angelo ever made. with Rodgers and Stafford in the division, we could never even dream of competing with Orton. it was a move that had to be made. what crippled the Bears and eventually cost Lovie his job was Angelo's 10 YEARS of bad drafts. even the drafts before the Cutler trade were mostly garbage. I read a few weeks ago that of the 82 people Angelo drafted, only 22 were still on the team. don't even want to know which are no longer in the NFL.

agree completely about angelo's drafting and i really like jay's skills at QB- but they were crippled by the loss of draft picks at a time when they could not afford to lose them.

Lovie Smith and Andy Reid are AWFUL choices for the Bills going forward. However, Reid is even a worse choice considering the personal baggage he has around his family. Reid just needs to retire.

Yeah, I agree. Check out these W/L records when potentially hired by the Bills:

Chan Gailey - 18-14, .563

Lovie Smith - 81-63, .563

They're the same coach!

Atleast one had to be spent on qb no matter what. Have to keep that in mind. Picking later in the draft more would likely need to be used to move up.

We'll be lucky if we get Lovie. His record with the Bears (below), with no superstar quaterbacks, has been something we'd have loved to have had over the last 8 years. Plus he always has a great defense and I yearn to see that again with the Bills (a hallmark of the Wade Phillips years.)

..."Smith, who posted an 80-63 regular-season mark since 2004, and a 6-3 record in the postseason, had just three losing records in his tenure with the organization -- 5-11 in his first season, and two 7-9 seasons."

Michael Lombardi just said on Total Access that he thinks Andy Reid's best fit is Buffalo and he could end up here.

would be a dream come true. would be unbelievably happy with this move

This coming from a guy called Bring Back Kelly. I know Buffalo very well and we are not at the top of the list for the best coaches. I know Wade is not a great HC but his D was good enough to give you a chance to win. Haven't had a defense since he left.

So why don't you call him up on the phone and ask him to to be our Defensive Coordinator. I'm sure this would be a much better gig than Houston. Yes his defense was good, his defensive players are good. but his head coaching abilities are not. So why would we bring him on as a head coach?

Why wouldn't we Bring Back Kelly. He would run the organization better than The schleps that have been running it for the last 13 years.

I checked out video of Greg Roman interviews and he seems like way too much of a low key guy to be a head coach. We don't need crazy emotion, but we also don't need another guy with a low key style like we had with Jauron and Gailey.

The next guy must have some sort of pep to him. In those interviews I saw, that's not Greg Roman.

I've watched a couple interviews with him as well and he seems fine to me...I'm not all that worried about pep and personality...I am concerned about intelligence, and innovation...I don't think Roman is a dud either...I do think he's a good, young, Football Coach with a nice resume... B-)
