Buffalo A Great City - For Real !!

Great. I hear the Atlanta Falcons are doing great. You should be proud of your hometown team.

And yes, we do love Buffalo. That's why we're here.

Seriously, who are the !@#$ expatriates who are insulting this place? They should go to a forum for whatever city they live in and talk about how terrific it is, and stay away from here. We're doing just fine, and, it seems, we're better off without them.

I don't really care if people leave. I love it here. I agree with you, if you love your new place so much, why try and stress how much you hate your old place. Seems petty to me. Like someone is butthurt over something. Who knows.

Yep. I couldn't stand my old house, but I don't show up and tell the new owners about it!

Outside of the weather, I'm happy here. I wish I could get into skiing or something so I would at least like winter, too, but I just can't. Oh well; most places don't have perfect weather year-round.

You act like other cities don't have bad neighborhoods. WTF is up with that? Vegas is one of the most hyped places in the world, I lived there for 2 years. Ever heard of the Letter Streets there? Nobody outside of Vegas has. I challenge you to go to D Street anytime.

Like NYC doesn't have bad neighborhoods. Last time I was there I was walking a few blocks away from Times Square and ran into a naked homeless guy in a store entrance that was masterbating to women walking by. The few girls I saw walked up to a NYC cop and he refused to go near the naked filthy guy playing with his dick in public.

I lived in Sullivan county NY for 2 years and when I was there I saw filthy run down homes that Hicidic Jews migrate to for the summer only to trash them and never go back again. So they just sit there for years until someone burns them down for insurance money. Oh and because all the Hicidics come from NYC, the property taxes are just as rediculous as WNYs.

You act like other NFL cities like NYC, SF, Miami, Wash, Oak, Dallas, Houston, Arz don't have bad areas.

Are you oblivious to crime in the US? As many here know, I'm a Corrections Officer and I can tell you that life is not all whipped cream and cherries. Buffalo is no different than any other "real" city. Do you know about the gangs in the southern states? Or the Mexican border towns that have beheadings every few months because of drug muling across the borders.

Taxes suck, sure. But you can also find a 2,000 square ft home for under 100k if you really want. Hell, when I lived in Vegas I went house hunting. 300k+ for a 2,000 square ft home with a driveway for a front lawn and a 50x10 section of gravel for the backyard. 300k in Buffalo can pretty much buy you a 2,500-3,000 square ft home in Amherst, Williamsville, Clarance, Lancaster, OP... And with acres of land, not 100 ft of it.

C'mon man, lets get real, you don't like Buffalo. We get it. You moved away, fine. But not every body hates it here. Not everybody gives up on a job here and moves out first chance they get. Not everybody likes to do things like you can do in Buffalo. Can you hang out in NYC, Vegas, SF, San Jose, SD and have an outside BBQ with a bunch of people in your 10x50 gravel yard? How bout your lobby of your apartment building like in NYC. Can you even have an outside fire put in California with all the flash fires that happen there?

These aren't the only things to do, but how bout other things that you can't do in other places. Or other things that you can't do here. In the end, it's a family place that you can raise your kids without having to worry about them getting mugged in a subway, or sneaking into casinos, or being on the streets with hard core gamgs like Latin Kings, Bloods, Cripps, MS13.

So you didn't like it here. That's fine. There's no reason to think any other cities are better in any way. Maybe you wanted to work as a marine biologist, and that would be tough here. I get it. But don't say there aren't any jobs. There aren't any if you don't look or are just plain lazy. Ever heard of Ingram Micro, Geico, Wegmans? They are all Fortune 500 companies. There's tons of customer service jobs if that's your thing too. I've worked in bars, restaurants, collection agencies, insurance companies, IT distributing companies, and now for the State. Can't say I ever had a hard time finding a job. Sure, I never made over 100k a year but you could have if you wanted to at any one of the places I did (except the restaurants). Have a friend that never went to college that makes over $120k a year at Ingram Micro as a marketing manager. Same path I would have been in if I had stayed there. Instead I opted to fight crime for a living. Yeah, I'm a superhero. But at the same time that I don't make over 100k, I don't need to because my 1,800square ft home was only 79k.

You think LA will be the safest place on earth for an NFL team? How bout Toronto? C'mon man. Your just as rediculous talking bad about Buffalo as thinking that LA is all palm trees and chicks in bikinis.

Hope you all enjoyed. As you can tell, I love Buffalo. Moved away to have the big city experience and moved back. I love it here and I'm never leaving. If you don't, that's fine with me. It gets another @$$hole out of town that constantly complains about rediculous things that happen everywhere else. Just say it, you wanted to live somewhere warmer that doesn't get snow and that's fine. But not all of us are wimps for getting out because of a few snowflakes.

Have a good day sir.

Jesus, this sounds like me and my brothers arguing about the merits of Buffalo vs. Denver, where I live. And it's masturbating with a 'U'

Damn new IPhone and spellcheck. You'd think it would have caught that. Not sure if I had any other spelling mistakes there but with my extremely long post, if that's all I got wrong, ill take it.

Exactly. It just sounds like someone is bitter about it. For whatever reason. It just doesn't make sense. But maybe, they are just commenting in how great their new city is and can only compare it to Buffalo. And that's fine. I know Buffalo is not Atlanta, SF, NYC, Houston, Dallas, Miami, etc... But it's still my home town. And I still love it for what it is. Wouldn't move for anything. I might buy a 2nd home somewhere warm at some point but honestly, the summers here are too perfect IMO. And I live early fall and late spring. Winter isn't as bad as so many outside Buffalo claim. A few extra degrees colder than NYC for example and a few extra dozen inches of snow. No big deal IMO. I actually look forward to it honestly. The month of February sucks usually because its the coldest and then football is done. But it usually warms up quickly by the end of March. But would rather have cold or cool than hot and sweating the minute I walk outside.

What about Green Bay and Pittsburgh? The Bills are doomed to mediocrity (and worse) because of their owner and not because of the city.

Green Bay has the support of an entire state, in that sense they are regionalized. Pittsburgh is a special case, with a special owner and special history. Extremely unique. If you think a change of ownership automatically fixes that look around the league and see how often that's happened. The only thing a new owner is likely to insure with all the parochial pig headedness around here, is a new location in LA

I love Buffalo. No matter how long I live elsewhere, it will always be considered home to me, period. In fact, I'll probably end up back there at some point sooner than later. But to those who cite cost of living, there is a reason the cost of living is what it is. As a general rule, San Diego, Denver, Seattle, Austin- these places are more pleasant places to hang out in than Buffalo. There are two types of Buffalonians: people who acknowledge this and say, hey ya know what, that may be but this is home to me and I love it for what is, all of my family is here, I couldn't imagine living anywhere else, etc. I respect these people very much and may become one at some point. And then there are your type 2 people like my brother who insist that Buffalo really is the best place in the world regardless of his family being there or anything else. I think these people are a little delusional, but that's just my humble opinion.

Im glad i left no snow and that person that said theres more to do in a 2 hour drive in buffalo to a 2 hour drive in atlanta is wrong. Theres so much to do in atlanta it isn't funny. You people cant say that you like buffalo i lived there for 21 years and then moved to atlanta and i wouldn't move back everything is old and to tell you the truth i don't even go back for the food and a bills game i can watch them on tv. GO ATLANTA!!!!

I would not be able to live somewhere with no snow tbh. I live on the hills of the soutern tier all winter. Boarding, skiing, and playing outdoor ice hockey all winter. The 4 seasons are amazing to me, the worst part for me is the lack of good paying jobs. However the cheap cost of living makes up for that imo.

To each his own. I'm both of these people you speak of in certain ways. I've been to many places and lived in a few different places. I honestly don't see any one place as being better in any way. Sure it's always fun to visit NYC or SF, or Vegas. I've spent some significant time in each place. But honestly, it's always the same no matter where you go. If you've been at one place long enough, eventually you run out of things to do you have never done before. In the end it comes down to what you enjoy doing on a daily basis and the ease of doing those things that hit me hardest. I have a good job making more than enough money to live. Couldn't complain about anything. Why would I want to change that if I'm happy.

And honestly, if someone isn't happy here in Buffalo I wouldn't hold it against them for leaving. I just have the problem with that person that bad mouths the city. It sounds like they are bitter over something IMO. Couldn't get the girl so you moved away, couldn't get the job so you moved away, can't handle the cold so you moved away, etc...

Jobs are a legitimate excuse and I am ok with that. But why bash when you leave? If there was a job here in the same area would you have stayed? Most likely not if your bashing now that your gone. And in some cases (like yours) people say eventually they see themselves coming back because they love it so much and at the end of the day it's home.

Also with careers and these places come higher costs of living, higher priced housing. Places like SF, LA, SD, NYC, DC, Philidelphia, Boston, etc... Ya, sure you get a job making 80k instead of 40-50k but at the same time your spending 3-4 times as much for housing. I have family in many places that pay so much it's rediculous. I couldn't imagine paying $3,000 a month for rent or mortgage for a place that could be had in Buffalo for half as much or a third. But to each his own.

Its alright at first but man it sucks when it's always like that. You know how you look forward to summer in Buffalo or winter/fall because of jeans weather or football season. You don't get that everywhere. When I lived in Vegas, I started to really love it when it rained and was crappy. Got so sick of sun and 100+ degree days. When I was there we had a record for straight days over 100 and straight days over 110. It sucked. Was too hot to even go outside. My steering wheel melted. Burned myself on seatbelts every time I put them on.

Nah, I've lived in that stuff, too. For years. I really, really like it. But again, I'm not willing to trade Buffalo for it.

I've been in Florida several times in the summer, and honestly have no idea how anybody can live there.......Then again I can't take NYC at 95 degrees either.

I was so made to live in Buffalo, it's ridiculous.

This is why family guys like Fitz and Mario and Barnett and Kelsay are here . Its a nice safe place outside the workplace to raise their families etc. It's a place you can actually have a normal life while you make your millions. Of course the real difference making players in the NFL, the rock stars from coaches to players who win Super Bowls will have nothing to do with a backwater, family place like Buffalo. So the Bills are basically doomed to mediocrity due to the nature of the place they play. Seems like a fair trade.

Fitz lives in Arizona
