With the Summer Season of movies officially in the books, the comic book movies will be given a rest for awhile. That also means that school is back in session, football is starting and we now begin the so-called Adult Season of movies. September also begins the early look at awards season. Usually awards movies get cranked up in November & December, but there are times when a hidden film or performance goes for recognition this time of year. As with almost every month there will be a little something for everyone to enjoy. Still there will be a heavy dose of drama this month.

Dredd is a comic book movie. Seeing it this weekend, reviews I've seen have been very positive - far superior to the Stallone version in the 90s. Very violent, no-nonsense action flick.

As long as there is no Rob Schneider.

And as for this month, it looks like this is the month of Bruce Willis and Amy Adams. I always get a kick out of seeing someone mentioned multiple times in these movie posts.

Sadly I am away from my PC (or any PC) that will allow me to follow the game this week. Shocking, I know, but I plan to watch the other 15 regular season victories of the Bills this year!

FYI. Since my Boys have already played,

the local sports talk station 1310 am The

Ticket will have the Bills.

I might see Trouble With The Curve. If for no other reason than I'm in love with Amy Adams.

So I take it you will also see "The Master"?

I hadn't heard of that one until this thread, but it's apparently supposed to be good. 8.7 rating on IMDB.

Paul Thomas Anderson is not for everybody.

Most people have great things to say about "Boogie Nights" & "There Will Be Blood", but there is a very divided group when it comes to "Magnolia".

I will definitely see "The Master".

Wow, I forgot The Master comes out this month....I will definitely get out to the theaters for that one...what a fantastic cast and one of my favorite directors. Fairport's own, and my pick for top character actor of his generation, Phillip Seymour Hoffman rarely gives a less than stellar performance. He also makes very interesting choices in terms of the scripts he likes...some of his indy films have been among my favorites (e.g. Love Liza; Jack Goes Boating).

And even though I won't likely see it at the theater, Looper is right up my alley...can't wait to see that one.

Well Dredd was a pretty good movie. Could have done with a larger budget but it certainly was true to the original material. Good to see an action movie not even try for a PG13 rating as well, the bad guys were suitably brutal. And an awful lot better entertainment than the season's opener.

It needs to be mentioned: because of the Blu-Ray release, Raiders of the Lost Ark is in theaters (or was, as of last weekend, but I read they're extending the run a few weeks).

I don't think I ever saw it on the big screen. I think I have to.

That is correct, sorry for not mentioning that.
