Unfortunately, the cold hard truth is there has never been and will never be a true interest in curing cancer, only in the development of more drugs and treatments that can prolong the length of people's lives so the pharmaceutical companies that run the FDA can make more money from them. There is no money in cures. Does it really make sense that when cells in your body go haywire the answer is to nuke the entire body to try and kill those cells? It would be tantamount to trying to make sure you got rid of a building in the city of Buffalo by hitting the entire city with a nuclear blast. The answers don't lie in more drugs to develop or more treatments to give...they lie in figuring out how and why the cells do this in the first place and how to prevent it and reverse the process. Most people think the FDA does things in the interest of the people in this country, but they are sadly mistaken. Virtually everything they do is in the interest of the big pharma companies they are run by, given millions of dollars by and catered to by...

Next time your doctor offers to give you a prescription, just think. You might have just sent him on an all expense paid 2 week trip to a resort island for filling his quota set by the pharmaceutical companies. When there aren't enough people taking their drugs, they simply push for the standards to be lowered by the FDA and AMA, so a whole new class of people who were once considered normal, are now "at risk". It is truly sickening, and it happens every day and the American people know very little about it and do even less to combat it---they simply believe these criminals are looking out for us...

There's no money in cures? You're trying to tell me if some company came up with a cure for cancer, that company, person, lab, whatever would not be profitable beyond all imagination?

Unfortunately, for those who really know cancer, there will never be a blanket cure. Cancer is thousands of different diseases that fall under one umbrella. I think that eventually, they will find a cure for say a strain of the many many strains of breast cancer, and that will be one down and many to go.

Cancer is no longer the automatic death sentence that it was once, so they are doing something right.

Unfortunately, it won the battle with Allen. I really liked him and may he RIP.

So you think FDA is doing what, exactly? Discouraging cures somehow? What companies are giving money to the FDA?

I'd like to know how this works, too. Does Merck call up Pfizer and say "look even though whoever cures this thing will make their stockholders, etc. rich enough to retire, we won't do it if you don't do it."

Just saw the postgame video on the Buffalo News website and tribute was paid to Allen Wilson. I don't know the details but think he was battling leukemia or lymphoma. This guy was a gentle giant who always put a positive spin on things. We will miss you Allen. Thank you for the inspiration
