Guy at work's theory about the Cincinnati refs

Recommended Posts

I've been off work since Saturday. I missed the second half of the game (at my son's little league game) and monitored it via my droid.

This morning we were discussing the possible motivation for the horrendous one-sided officiating on Sunday, and my friend (Bears fan) explained that it was all designed to get New England back into first place where they belong. He says Kraft is Satan, and Goodell sold his soul to get that job.

Makes sense to me. Think about it: When was the last time anybody saw the Tuck Rule called? When was the last time a ref came running from out of position to change a call (just give it to them)?

Quit crying about the refs. The defense played like gutless wimps down the stretch. Refs aside, all they had to do was make one stop anywhere late in the game and it would have been fine.

You can't just always try to find an excuse for failure, sometimes you have to own it.

Yup. And 9/11 was a hoax.

Do you actually believe what you're saying/typing or do words just come out and form their own moronic sentences?

Hey, relax. We're kidding here. How stupid are you to believe that I'm serious? Who's the moron? That's unnecessary. Do you think that grown men actually believe that Robert Kraft is Satan and that Roger Goodell sold his soul?

Jeez.

I thought this post was going into another direction when I clicked on it. I was in Vegas during the game, unable to get a ride to Johnny Macs and not willing to pay $40 or so each way in cab fares, I gladly put on my Jackson jersey and headed to the sports book in the MGM. There were hundreds of people there. It was like a homeless shelter or soup kitchen, people everywhere, standing, sitting, laying on the floor, sitting and eating fast food in one hand as they clinched thier 3, 4, and 5 team parlay tickets in thier other hand. During my stay I noticed thelat the Cowboys and Lions game saw the most action but the Bills game was on 3 small (55 inches or so) tvs. You could watch it from anywhere. I spoke with the teller at the window when I placed my bets and he said the games with the most action recieved volume. It was clear to me that the Bills got some decent play because they were on many tvs in the area. It was no secret that people were cheering for the Bills as they jumped out to a lead in the first half. Most people forgot all about the game and focused on closer games like the Steelers/Texans, and Bears/Panthers. Many assumed the Lions game was over as well. Then in the second half you could see the cheers shifting. Fewer and fewer as the day went on. Every soboften you saw a few people stand and pump thier fists as thier tickets were becoming more possible. I thought about the refs after the game, I thought it couldve even been fixed but isn't it funny how I never recieved so many sorry appologies as a Bills fan just for wearing my jersey after a loss. People connected with me because they lost too. A friends family member I saw during the afternoon games first words to me was "man, your Bills really screwed up my 5 team Parlay". I heard that multiple times throughout my Sunday. It was like a knife into the back of Bills fans everywhere. It was almost as clear as glass how we got the crumby calls we got. Now I believe that if we played better that we wouldve won that game, at the same time we were winning and driving the field when that "catch" play happened. Worst case, we get 3 plays off and have to punt the ball, but we still kill some more clock and give Ginger less time to play with during thier cheap comeback. If anything, the refs angle was to make some money. I don't put any thought into the Pats on this at all. I hope youball enjoyed my story. Every bit of it is complete truth. It was almost like watching casinos dumping bags of money into thier vaults when the Bills lost. Altogether Vegas raked it in this week. Bills loss, Lions comeback, Panthers covering with a few seconds left on the clock. If there's a conspiracy it's in Vegas, or the refs were in on a HUGE payday.

As did the offense. Scoring 13 points is not going to cut it against any team.

I remember a playoff game v. Cincinnati way way back in the early 80's when the Bills were victims of a horrendous game changing call. They were driving down the field and Ferguson hit Piccone for a first down at the 9. Piccone was hit in the back with a flag as he ran out of bounds to stop the clock. The penalty was Delay of Game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when somebody is hit with a Delay of Game, don't the refs blow the whistle and stop the play? This penalty was called after the Bills had come out of a time out. I'd never seen Delay of Game called after a time out. And the penalty ended up killing the drive, and the Bills lost. I was sitting with Eddie Wise, who was at the time Martin Mull's piano player. And he opined that the refs were definitely on the take for that game.

Bengals had a better game plan. I got a few calls go their way. In today's NFL, that could be the difference between a W & L. McKelvin needs help and our run defense was awful! The Bills may not win another game this year.

There is no conspiracy between the league, the Patriots, and the referees to screw the Bills out of a win against the Bengals.

But isn't that exactly what the CIA, freemasons and WWF (not that WWF, the other WWF) would WANT us to believe??

/runs away

And yet a week earlier, somehow the 49ers beat those same Bengals by a score of... wait for it... 13-8.
