The Poojer Posted September 13, 2011 Share Posted September 13, 2011 this was exactly my thought...there had been so much emphasis on touchbacks, that I don't think teams are/were ready to be given runback chances...kick it a bit higher to give the defense time to get down there and not allow the returner to take a knee... Thought the exact same thing during the game. My guess is, you kick it light to the goal line, and your coverage team has a 5 yard head start from the same return spot last year.
