Luke sounds just like one of the Brohm fans in Buffalo. New QB will thrive in new setting even though all evidence says otherwise.

I thought Brohm had one start on an injury-riddled team that he'd been with for about a month.

Didn't know there was 3 years of film on Brohm as a starting QB. Where'd you get it?

There is precious little evidence to examine. Unless of course one subscribes to the specious "he was cut by the Pack so he can't be any good" logic of some here. I thought the preseason evidence was pretty favorable, for what it was. Which is to say, not a lot.

He is an unknown quantity right now. That's attractive when the known isn't very good.

Yep, that's his logic. Kurt Warner was cut by the Pack too, so he can't be any good either.

No QB drafted as high as Brohm, in the modern NFL history has ever been cut this early or even a little later in his career with no playing time, sailed through waivers & amounted to anything. In fact, just about QB drafted early, even guys with starts on their resumes, who has been let go by his original drafting team has busted out of the NFL without ever being a quality starter. Since guys drafted this high are so well scrutinized before & after they get to the NFL, getting waived that soon, or even later, is a career death sentence. The only QB who I've seen ever to come back from getting released early was Kerry Collins, who had a drinking problem at the time of his release-and his resume already included getting his team to the conference championship game in his 2nd year in the league.

So, why would anyone who knows the history of failed QBs ever expect Brohm to basically be the exception-because Brandon & Guy were such geniuses in signing him?

Don't forget the "Brohm hasn't thrown a TD in preseason" argument.

Fair points, but the bottom line is that while it is likely that Brohm will amount to nothing, it's still uncertain, because he's only played 1 game, and he didn't even know the playbook yet in that game.

Also keep in mind that Brohm wasn't a street free agent when the Bills signed him, he was on the Packers' practice squad, and credible journalists have written that the Packers did match the Bills' contract offer to try to retain Brohm. Only in recent years have teams started the move of only keeping 2 QBs on the roster, with the 3rd-stringer on the practice squad. Traditionally, a pick as high as Brohm would never have been cut, and would still be on the Packers. If he's improved his play since then (which sometimes happens with young QBs), he could theoretically have won the backup job from Matt Flynn. It's not crazy. Yes, Brohm did clear waivers twice, and that can't be discounted -- it's a bad sign. But there's still no proof that he stinks, and all the evidence for him stinking is circumstantial. So there's still uncertainty, and where there's uncertainty, there's also hope.

I'm not a Brohm fan but get your crap correct.

Brohm wasn't cut, and didn't go through waivers.

The Bills signed him off of the Packers Practice squad. Like The Eagles signed Joique Bell earlier this year.

Brohm was cut in September 2009, went through waivers unclaimed.

Bell was cut in September 2010, went through waivers unclaimed.

You don't know the rules. All practice squad members unless they were signed off the street, were waived & went unclaimed.

Know what you're talking about before you post something this foolish.

Get YOUR crap correct!

You have to be cut, then clear waivers, to be put on the practice squad.

Eat more fiber for the other problem.

You're right, the only evidence will be when he gets on the field. However, teams make decisions all the time about guys who have had a lot less playing time than Brohm has had in preseason & his one regular season game and haven't made a mistake on a high profile QB yet. So, yes in a court of law, a prosecutor would have no case in "The trial of Brian Brohm's NFL career". But there's enough of a statistical sample for a statitician to conclude that the statistical chance of Brohm being a successful NFL QB, based on the success of prior NFL QBs waived, is close to zero percent.

Albany, I can't stand your hate for Brohm. Your whole premise of him sucking is he cleared waivers and went on a practice squad and no qb has ever made it back from there. or something like that cuz I really can't even read your hate posts through anymore. If its good for the team for him to become good, why not just have a little hope that it'll happen. After all you are a Bills fan, right? Isn't it in the best interest for the team if our qb is already on the roster? But you insist he sucks when you really don't have much evidence that this is so. An honest judgement CAN'T be made until we see him play in a good 3,4,5 live games. Until then, can't you just temper your hate for the rest of us? You state he sucks like it's fact and it is just being ignorant.

fixed.

Broken f'in record, dude. Read it all before, multiple times, and if that's your reasoning for saying Brohm sucks without ever seeing him as a legitimate starter in more than one NFL game, you're a moron.

I stand corrected.

Why do you hate him so much?

Last year who would have you preferred be our 3rd QB? Hamdan?

The People rooting for Brohm to start are just reacting to poor QB performances. If the #2 QB were John McGillacuty they would be rooting for McGillacuty to start. It has very little to do with Brohm.
