Trent one of the "strongest arms in the NFL"

Recommended Posts

It goes to show nothing much about QBing.

The one thing that has anything to do with QBing is that Trent's initial reaction is faster. I don't know if it's surprising, though, since Darby's motion must be small and precise and a QB's first motion is a blunt, big movement, jamming his foot into the ground.

Regardless of anything else in this thread or anything related to Trent, they timed the first movement so it has nothing to do with precision. As soon as any kind of motion started..that's the timing they used.

The balloon was extremely close. I think it's a shock wave that pops it, not an actual bullet. That's why he doesn't have to aim precisely.

Thanks for that explanation. Glad to know it was a blank.

Kinda fitting how the QB with the quickest release plays behind the Buffalo Bills O-Line. Levi Brown will soon have the quickest release.

The quickest read/react in football is useless if you've already been firmly planted into the turf before an intermediate or long pass pattern has even had time to develop.

So you become a Captain Checkdown/ Glove wearing Mary for survival purposes,

Give Trent Edwards the proper protection/play calling and he will make plays,

Also, Marshawn Lynch is the third best back on the Bills. Thanks.

Assuming Spiller is better than Marshawn, yeah. Jackson averages a half yard more per carry for his career and is clearly more instinctive and also better in the passing game than Lynch. Lynch has some limitations, like finding the open running lane and a lack of speed and elusiveness. Jackson makes people miss. Lynch runs thru them. There are more yards in slipping tackles than dragging tacklers.

And yeah, unfortunately Ice is right about Trent. Edwards quick release comes at the expense of downfield strength and control. You've got to square your shoulders and drive the hips to throw with power downfield and Trent doesn't do it. He's either physically incapable or more likely afraid to expose his back and take the hits that guys with simialarly modest arm strength, like Drew Brees, know they have to . Check out Brees getting his whole body involved in his throws then check Trent trying his best not to plant his feet.
